Thanks Chris. Once a customer approves the cost estimate, Tesla has economic incentive to proceed with the approved repair and monetize instead of warranty repair. This is the exact same behavior of other American autos and it’s unfortunate because Tesla used to be different. In my view these should be warranty items, but either way I’d prefer to have Tesla actually check out my truck, diagnose the issue and then tell me it’ll cost me 💲. I ignored the estimate initially but then the service team told me I needed to approve it or the appointment would be cancelled. You’re hosting people into the economic incentive trap.

Yo @Tesla why does every service visit for warranty repair work suddenly become a money grab? I’ve owned a Tesla since 2017, this has changed materially and I don’t like it. Tesla warranty used to be white glove. You’re starting to behave like big auto, money grabbing at every visit. The high voltage system generated an error and Tesla app suggested a service visit. $250 for an in warranty vehicle. The hub cap on my Truck started rattling going down the road. To my knowledge I didn’t cause this to happen. Zero evidence of damage. $340. $652 in repair estimate for a vehicle that’s under warranty that you haven’t seen. @elonmusk 🤷
