And it’s another example of how us playing ‘awful football’ is a pretty dumb and simplistic view. Surely it’s quite obvious now that we just adapt our football depending on how the opposition set up?
PL: win by smaller margins, more attritional, not as fluid etc because oppo (on the whole) are more resolute and set up more defensively.
UCL: win by larger margins, oppo teams playing more open football meaning we can be more expansive and not have to revert to set pieces.
