@chrisglover There’s no cuts to OSAP! The grant levels have been lowered for some students…

Students know how Doug Ford's OSAP cuts have impacted them. They don't need to be gaslit by this government. #ONpoli

@Garnet_2203 Where the garbage can? I’ve had this same conversation with a local school. Students leave trash all over a nature trail just off school property. I requested the school add a trash can near the trail. There’s no more trash on the trail.

Shockingly, this is at a hospital in the GTA. Let me be very clear, this is NOT the fault of nurses, PSWs, or cleaning staff. They are doing everything they can to hold together a public health care system that is being pushed to its limits. This is what happens when public health care is underfunded. I’m a senior. I paid into public health care my entire life. My parents relied on it and they received quality, dignified care. So why are we being asked to accept less from the same public health care system today? What changed? Years of cuts. And let’s be honest since Doug Ford was elected, it’s been cut after cut after cut to public health care system. • Hospital funding not keeping up with inflation • Staffing shortages across public health care • Wage caps on nurses and health care workers (Bill 124) • Burnout driving people out of public health care • ER closures due to lack of staff • Expansion of private clinics instead of strengthening public health care And now we’re seeing the consequences. A public health care system stretched beyond capacity. Hallway medicine. Long wait times. Exhausted staff doing everything they can to keep our health care functioning. This is not a failure of workers. This is a failure to protect out healthcare. And instead of rebuilding public health care, Doug Ford is moving toward privatized delivery that only serves his rich friends and family. And we’re seeing the same thing in our Public Education. Cut. Underfund. Strain the system. We should not accept that. We don’t need less public health care. We need to fund it, protect it, and rebuild it. Because every Canadian no matter their income deserves strong, reliable public health care. This is about dignity. This is about fairness. This is about the future of public health care in this country.

@priddlecorp @sunlorrie … It’s both. I was giving context as to why it also affects Canadians and Canadian politicians are concentrating their energy on it.
George@priddlecorp

@sunlorrie As a Canadian, I don’t care a whit about working conditions in China. Canadian politicians should concentrate their energy on the people they’re legitimately empowered to represent…Canadians.

@VisionaryLight @sunlorrie So it’s an economic argument not a human rights argument? Canada isn’t concerned about “slave labour” per se but about our labour systems economic competitiveness in relation to China’s?

@priddlecorp @sunlorrie The meeting was about bring in Chinese EV cars into Canada that are built by forced Labour (Slaves) competing against vehicles built in countries like Canada with non forced labour.

In response to this, Conservatives introduced a very simple motion that read: “That the committee unequivocally condemn forced labour practices in China.” The Liberals responded by attempting to replace “in China” with “globally.” When asked to demonstrate the most basic concern for China’s human rights record, Liberals cannot bring themselves to do it.
Raquel Dancho@RaquelDancho

Disturbing. Did this Liberal MP really just deny that forced labour practices are taking place in China? This is a documented problem. Why is this MP carrying water for the Chinese regime?

@Joyhenderson78 The higher grant levels were not available to all students. Only some will have higher loans with low interest on only the provincial portion prime + 1% after graduation. The federal portion is interest free. There’s also 4 months to work over summer.

@VisionaryLight Okay, let me rephrase, the grants have been gutted by 75% and students who are graduating with little job opportunities out there will now have to pay back higher loans, because the grants are gone.

@rellim_evad @TinaYazdani They also fail to mention the higher grant levels weren’t even available to all students. Also the interest on the OSAP loan is only on the provincial portion and it’s prime+1%. Federal portion has no interest. Interest only starts after graduation.

Ontario's education minister is refusing to apologize after directing school boards to keep graduation ceremonies free from political views. Critics believe he is trying to influence political discourse inside schools, but he insists this is about focusing on student achievement

@RDam426 @kristynwongtam @MaritStiles It’s 25% grant limit. Interest is prime +1 percent on just the province’s portion of the loan. The federal portion is interest free. Interest only starts at graduation.

@VisionaryLight @kristynwongtam @MaritStiles "To everyone" to NO ONE. You could be missing an arm, poorest of the poor, a crown ward, have top grades entering a top school and the grant limit is still 15% so you only get 15%

I joined hundreds of students at the Hands Off Our Education rally at Queen’s Park, calling on the Ford government to reverse the cuts to OSAP. On our first day back, @maritstiles moved a unanimous consent motion to reverse these cuts, and the Ford government refused. In response to the rally, Ford called the unions supporting students “gangs”, and claimed they were protesting a government “that’s giving ’em money.” Instead of addressing the affordability crisis students are facing, he is choosing to attack them. Let’s be clear: this fight is not over. The @ontariondp will continue to stand with students and their families. We have made this government back down before, and we will keep pushing to ensure public education and public services are accessible to all Ontarians. To get involved and grow this movement, visit kristynwongtam.ca/saveosap and let’s send Ford back to school.

@tylerwatt The interest is prime +1% and the Federal part of the loan is interest free. The interest doesn’t start till after you graduate. If he’s studying in Ottawa he just needs to pay tuition. Which is doable with part time job and 4 months summer. No mountain of debt.

I asked the Premier about the cuts to OSAP grants - and shared Noah’s story. He’s a high school student in #Nepean helping support his family while dreaming of becoming a lawyer. Now, because of this government’s choices, he’s questioning whether he can even afford to go to school. That’s not just a policy failure - it’s a broken promise to a whole generation. Students like Noah deserve better. #FixOSAPASAP

To all Graduating high school students this year 2026 Ya’ll can say this… 🖕 FUCK YOU, Doug Ford. You just gutted OSAP slashing grants from 85% down to just 25%. Now we’re forced into massive loans while tuition starts climbing again. You’re not “making it sustainable” you’re burying an entire generation in debt before we even get our first job. Dreams? Crushed. Future? Sold out. Ontario youth? Screwed. Doug Ford deserves every bit of backlash coming his way. If you’re a student, parent, or anyone who actually cares about the next generation share this and tag your MPP. Freedom of Speech

I stood with students today outside Queen’s Park who are speaking up for their future. They’re working hard, doing everything right - and now they’re being told to take on more debt just to get an education. That’s not fair. That’s not the Ontario we should be building. I’ll keep fighting alongside them until we #FixOSAPASAP.
