Hey devs, what shape is your retention graph? Your Steam playtime graph is probably one of these 5. Long tail. Single peak. Fat tail. Cliff. Barbell. Each one tells you something different about what to fix. Long tail Most players bounce. A few stick. The most common shape on Steam. Fix: the hook is too soft. Single peak Everyone finishes. Everyone leaves. Healthy for linear games. Fix: nothing, if replayability isn't the goal. Fat tail A crowd of players past 50 hours. The roguelite dream. Fix: don't touch it. Feed it. Cliff Sudden drop at a specific hour. That hour is where you lost them. Fix: go play that moment. You'll feel it. Barbell Bounce fast or play forever. Empty middle. Rare shape. The loop works. The door is locked. Fix: onboarding, not content. We have a barbell. What's yours?

The new trailer for Loftia just came out: it's a cozy MMO, so it blends 2 of my favourite things in gaming. It has exploration, collecting, decorating, crafting, farming, group and solo content and more. The closed beta (with no NDA) starts on April 22, i'll play it 🏃‍♀️

If you like old school grindy MMORPGs, an indie one called Torebia is having a playtest on Steam. I tried it and it's extremely early so there isn't a lot of content yet, i like the art style. It doesn't have classes but stat points to distribute and a big skill tree

It's literally this, as an indie dev (no matter if solo or a little team) you have limited time, and that's the key. You must be careful selecting what to focus on between those 3 topics and he explains it really well. That's why making little games is a good idea, because you get to focus on marketing and Exposure earlier

@Majoindies Normalmente es por tiempo, depende del tipo de juego no es tanto el esfuerzo de localizarlo a varios idiomas, pero los indie devs normalmente vamos con tiempo MUUUUUUY limitado por lo que al final todo es priorizar. Lo sacas antes den inglés solo y luego vas localizando...

Pregunta para los devs! estoy viendo muchos indies españoles o de habla hispana, que sus demos estan integramente en ingles, supongo que es para darle visibilidad sobretodo al principio en ingles y mas adelante sacar el español no?.
