@RMBee @forallmankind_ Perhaps it’s just me, but can we talk about how we’ve had a drastic change in how things are lit? I’m not a fan of the super dark club vibe that the bridge has on a starship in any modern Star Trek show.

Oppo had two Blu-ray models with Darbee processing.

Darbee Darblet HDMI processor, had this for years, didn't like the resulting image, just looked like edge enhancement despite being able to dial intensity.

Apple has continued to address iOS 26 bugs and make tweaks to Liquid Glass, some permanent and others optional via customization. With the release of iOS 26.4, inexplicably Apple has moved the search field in the App Store from the bottom (the new paradigm) to the top (what we had in iOS 18 and earlier. One of the changes in iOS 26 that I’ve come to appreciate is the easier access to search. Having to reach with one hand the search field at the top is clearly more of a stretch. Other areas of iOS remain intact for the most part, so I’m curious why they have decided to do this, but I don’t like it. It seems like one step forward, two steps back. You have an artistic vision as a film maker. The distribution method is irrelevant. Just because something is being made for a streaming platform doesn’t mean it needs to look a certain way, whatever you think that is. This is all subjective anyway. I see tones of stuff on both platforms that I find questionable.

I added about 20% more contrast to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It’s not perfect, but completely de‑contrasted video like this looks terrible to me. This at least brings some life back into the image. I think we have to remember that TV is not cinema, so why color grade like cinema?

American comic writer and artist Sam Kieth has died. I am an admirer of his work but never got around to reading “The Maxx.” He was prolific in the comic space and wrote and drew for both DC and Marvel. I become enamored with The Maxx’s animated MTV adaption in 1995. @BBW_BFF In my hotel room in Tokyo I started watching full episodes of G.I. Joe on Hasbro’s YouTube channel. I forgot how ludicrous that cartoon was. You can’t make that a live action movie with gravitas without making it something that it’s not meant to be.
