Let's face it, ED's got a strong grip on power. We should focus on making a real difference in our families' lives. Zimbabwe needs action, not empty talk. People have tried to take him down before, but he remains in place. It's time to stop daydreaming and get to work

"Uproar as Mayor David Coltart seeks to ban Winky D from Bulawayo Shutdown Show " A pathetic article which disregards the facts. I have no intention of banning Winky D from @CityofBulawayo not that I have that power in any event. On the contrary I welcome him and other artists - this is bound to be a wonderful event but this is no a zero sum game. It is possible for this to be a win win situation - with the event being held at a far more suitable location. This is an unsuitable venue - there are plenty of other excellent venues - some which the City itself can assist the organisers with - where this event should be staged. bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-…

If you say that, you should also agree that there are LOTS OF EMPLOYED people working in the mining sector. There can’t be just mineral production without employment. Where are the mines producing those minerals that are being smuggled? Don’t tell us about artisanal gold miners because they don’t even pay VAT. They are exempted from taxation.

COME HERE THINKING ZIMBABWEANS… Zimbabweans need to pay attention to what ZIMRA announced today: In 2024, ZIMRA (the govt) collected a PALTRY US$6.1 billion. This is what the govt had for paying civil servants, building roads, funding healthcare etc. DO YOU EXPECT BIG SALARIES & WORLD CLASS INFRASTRUCTURE? We need rational analysts in Zimbabwe, the MAJOR PROBLEM facing the country is PATHETICALLY LOW PRODUCTION. Looking at this👇🏽, mineral royalties contributed 3% of total revenue, that’s MUCH LESS THAN the IMTT tax which contributed 8%. This tells you that MINING POTENTIAL ISN’T fully exploited. The minerals are there, but the country will remain poor if those minerals aren’t being mined at a LARGER SCALE. Check Australia or South Africa’s mining production. Zimbabweans, due to financial & economic illiteracy, hate those who invest in mining. They see it as LOOTING, a clear sign that the school curriculum needs an upgrade. Zimbabwe needs to MASSIVELY increase production and trade across all sectors. There is a lot of potential in agriculture, mining, & tourism. That’s where the low hanging fruits are. As long ZIMRA collects anything below US$20 billion per year, the govt won’t be able to pay bigger salaries to civil servants, and won’t be able to provide world class services. ANYONE who wants to lead Zimbabwe after President @edmnangagwa MUST be clear how they will increase production and create wealth and jobs. The “CORRUPTION” stuff is JUST lazy thinking, that’s what any useless politician can say just to score points. Even with ZERO corruption, US$6.1 billion won’t get you anywhere. By the way, Zimbabweans are already complaining that they are overtaxed, so don’t tell us that there is room to collect more tax revenue without increasing production. Let’s hear your views.

These statements from @adv_fulcrum & the Law Firm are just empty.. They are misleading people, @winkydonline is not a victim of anyone/anything… Here is why: 1. Winky D didn’t secure the venue at all…. He made a reservation, the venue remained available to others willing and able to pay…. 2. RTG is a business, not a charity organisation… they can’t ignore clients ready & willing to pay just because someone made a promise… they do BOOKINGS, not mere promises 3. He could have made similar arrangements in the past but that doesn’t guarantee him the venue forever… he could have been lucky that no paying client came up 4. This is a non-story, the venue was SECURED by others and there is nothing changing…. He can still do his show at a different venue…. 5. The statement from the lawyers is not proof that he secured the venue… if they have proof that they had paid for the venue then we would understand… they don’t have that There is no politics involved here, it’s just business… if you want a SOUGHT AFTER venue, you pay without delay… simple

WITHDRAWAL FROM CHINGWIZI PROJECT We are writing to inform you that Citizens Initiative has made the sad decision to withdraw from the Chingwizi project where we were hoping to construct classroom blocks. This has been compelled by the bureaucratic handicaps we have faced in Masvingo province over a period of 5 months. Before commencing the project we had 3 meetings with officials from Mwenezi RDC and the DA. They indicated that they welcomed the project, however they asked us to get clearance from Provincial Affairs & Devolution office in Masvingo. We wrote them in October. They gave us the clearance letter on November 6. Our understanding was that there was nothing else we needed after this except liaising with the School SDC on how to get the community manpower we needed. We began delivering cement, bricks and stones to the school on November 18. We then received phone calls from the CEO and the DA instructing us to stop activities at the school until we have another meeting on 21 November. The meeting was attended by the following 1. Mwenezi DA - Mr. Mutambara 2. Mwenezi CEO 3. Mwenezi HR 4. Mwenezi Council Chair 5. Mwenezi Public Service Commission 6. Mwenezi Ministry of Education 7. President's Office Representative 8. Traditional Leaders' Representative 9. Police DISPO 10. JOC representative At the meeting we made it clear that our work was non-political and non-partisan and that we did not want any political players to be involved. As with other projects we have done across the country, only the School SDC and local leadership (Councillor and Chief) would help us coordinate the community for labor and other help. The meeting resolved to allow us to continue our work and that on the 4th December there would be the school meeting to site the block at Chingwizi. On 27 November we received another call this time from Dr. Pazvakavambwa – Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President Masvingo. He wanted to meet us on 3 December in Masvingo. At the meeting, there were new conditions. We were asked to register as a PVO, a process that has many other requirements and also takes a long time. In the mean time, they asked us to channel resources through the Council. Both these conditions are hard for us to abide by given that we have no intentions of managing another entity. Secondly channelling the resources through Council will create another layer of bureaucracy that we have no control over. We have already established efficient ways to use the meagre resources we have. Roping in Council will balloon our expenses. We also will not be able to control and account for the resources to our donors. The request for endless meetings has already forced us to burn through 12% of what we had raised for the first block. After consulting with the CI board, we have resolved to withdraw from the project and donate the materials we had already purchased to Chingwizi Primary School. Although we have been successful in working in other provinces, this is not the first time we have faced this. We faced similar issues in Masvingo Province when we wanted to do the Citizwean Clinic in January 2020. We also had to give up on building home for Mt Hampden kids in 2021. We had to withdraw from Gwelutshena School project in Nkayi in 2022. It breaks our hearts to be unable to fulfill the wishes of our ordinary donors who put in their hard earned money just so that the 662 children have a decent learning space. It was beyond our control and we tried our best. We Are Sorry.

@ZimLighthouse @godfrey1123 @crimewatchzw The first statement in strict terms says he raped her twice. Which is towing the line on prejudicial reporting. The rest however makes it clear these are allegations. Nothing wrong with sharing his name, address & picture. These were made public in open court anyways. No issue.

Old Mutual Senior manager arrested for r@ping intern in the office and then in car at a shopping center A senior manager with Old Mutual allegedly r@ped a 23 year-old intern twice without protection as he threatened to withdraw her scholarship. Musa Nyasha Dube Manyika has since appeared before Harare Magistrates’ Court where he was granted free bail. The case is under CRB HRE 1529/24. Musa is the manager for Business Development at Old Mutual while the alleged victim is a third-year UZ student. She started her undergraduate in 2022 under the Old Mutual Scholarship and while she was at the University of Zimbabwe sometime in November 2022, she was introduced to Manyika. He was part of the Scholarship Committee and he later sent a message on a Sunday evening in November 2022 as he wanted her to assist him packing some banners at Old Mutual Gardens. Allegations are that he went to pick her up from the university campus and went to his office where they packed the banners. It is further alleged that after finishing packing the banners, he pushed her to the wall but she tried to fight back and screamed but no one came to her rescue. Further allegations are that, he then pushed her on his table before pulling off her dress, skin tight and pant to the knee level. He allegedly removed his shorts to the knee level and r@ped her without protection. Manyika apologised but threatened her that she would lose her scholarship if she was to tell anyone about the incident. He allegedly gave the victim a branded Old Mutual bag, a juice bottle, and a cap. The second alleged incident took place significantly later, on June 19th of this year. The State alleges that Manyika again contacted the complainant, this time arranging a meeting at Ashbrittle Shops. He then allegedly invited her into his car, where, according to the prosecution, he engaged in int!mate acts without her consent. This second allegation further strengthens the State’s case and raises concerns about a pattern of behaviour.
