a workaround for this is if you run third-party harnesses like OpenClaw inside TempleOS, the power of HolyC and God forbids Anthropic from blocking your claude subscription (it's an exception in their Terms of Service) but it does make your opus act a little weird though...
Boris Cherny@bcherny

Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.

@bcherny Wait, claude subscriptions did previously cover openclaw? For some reason I had assumed they didn't

@zap270004 @AlboMP I'd wait until crisis was over, prices had peaked, and things were getting back to normal before doing this. Seems risky because if we do actually run out we're screwed. Anyway hope you're right!

@_____Calum @AlboMP No thats a really bad idea. Demand for fuel is non elastic because basically everyone needs it. We have enough fuel supplies in Australia for now that massively raising it would be political sabotage since not everyone has the luxury of convenient public transport arrangements

We're halving the fuel tax for three months to save you money when you fill up. Conflict overseas is pushing up prices at home. And we know Australians are feeling the pressure.

The 50% Capital Gains Tax 'Discount' hasn't been a discount at all. · When inflation exceeds half the nominal return, it’s a tax increase compared to the old Indexation method, new IPA research shows; · In fact, as inflation soars beyond 4% the Discount will likely produce tax rates on real capital gains near 100% for many investors; · Reducing the so-called Discount to 33% with 4% inflation could elicit tax rates of 80% and 54% after 10 years, for average nominal returns of 6% and 8%, respectively; · The older Indexation method was a more consistent predictable system for taxing capital gains. ipa.org.au/research/austr…

On Friday I did something very different.  I keynoted at Australia’s #1 Payroll conference at the Hilton in Sydney.   The event was full of payroll professionals, HR people and accountants from across the country. I had heaps of great conversations after my talk. Since over 90% of my expenses at SSW are payroll, I was looking for some hot tips 😂 😂 Doing a keynote is more responsibility and more preparation than a normal session and the conference organizers were really helpful and diligent. My session, “Supercharge Yourself with AI: Practical AI You Can Use Right Now for Payroll and More” explored how AI is transforming common workflows for payroll teams by boosting productivity, reducing admin, and improving accuracy. I loved preparing for this talk and it was all practical - SSW has already implemented AI solutions for payroll companies in both Australia and France, helping teams automate repetitive tasks, and get the right answers for complicated questions that can never be wrong. While speaking I asked a few questions and this is what I learnt: * 90% of the room had used Copilot * 10% Claude Cowork (that will change quickly) * 50% Beryl - the AI assistant for Payroll that SSW built for APA (Australian Payroll Association). It was a fun project and quite a bit of work, so that was rewarding to see that. (See Beryl in a photo) I did have a conference attendee come up to me and sternly say   “Adam I wont use it until you change the name!” I asked why and she said   “My sister in-law is named Beryl” 🚀 AI in payroll is no longer ‘coming soon’ - it’s here and delivering real results. Sing out if you need help.

Solving problems with AI somehow still feels like what it must have been like walking around gold fields pre-gold rush. There are massive nuggets just sitting on the surface waiting for you.

@zerohedge Fair enough, should be released either when a resolution to the situation is confirmed to stabiliser faster, or we are reaching actual existential crisis levels... imagine if they released it now and ran out before it resolved...
