Today, 2nd April 2026, a 12-member delegation from the University of Manchester visited ActionAid Rwanda to learn about our work on women’s land rights, equitable ownership, and policy engagement. @ActionAid

Through group work and open dialogue, they identified what is working well, the challenges faced, and practical solutions to enhance sustainability

Participants actively engaged in discussions on key achievements, including improved farming practices, youth engagement, and strengthened local cooperatives.

Today, April 1, 2026, a reflection meeting was successfully conducted in Muko, bringing together women and youth from Muko and Shingiro LRPs to share experiences, lessons learned, and progress from agroecology practices. @musanzedistr

AAR will continue to support and advocate for women’s leadership, amplifying women’s voices, enabling them to defend their rights, and addressing the challenges they face.

In line with the summit’s aim to galvanize women’s leadership for social & economic transformation and sustainable development, AAR joined partners in recognizing women whose leadership is driving change in Rwanda.

Key goal: strengthen women’s leadership to drive social & economic resilience. Focus areas include: ✔️ Governance ✔️ Business & finance ✔️ Climate-smart agriculture ✔️ Intergenerational leadership

Rwanda leads globally in women’s representation, with 61.3% in Parliament and 50% in Cabinet positions, among others. Yet, challenges remain: limited access to finance, concentration in low-paying sectors, GBV, etc. The summit will address these gaps head-on.

The dialogue also emphasized promoting community-level solutions to reduce care burdens and addressing gender norms by engaging men and boys in care work.

During the sessions, participants highlighted the need to translate existing gender and social protection policies into practical, measurable actions while strengthening data, financing, and accountability mechanisms around unpaid care.

On 18 March 2026 in Kigali, @actionaidrwanda, together with diverse stakeholders, participated in an important dialogue on “Moving Policy into Action: Recognizing the Unpaid Care Economy.”

This brought together youth and smallholder farmers from both countries, building stronger solidarity and vibrant social movements in the face of climate change.

@actionaidrwanda, in collaboration with @ActionaidTz, organized an exchange learning visit through the TransformativeImpact Fund project.

Key actionable recommendations taken include: • Upgrade Village Nutrition Schools into practical Nutrition Innovation Hubs • Scale behavior change communication • Integrate nutrition into home-based ECD models • Improve post-harvest management systems .

The Two-Day National Workshop on Innovative Solutions for Nutrition Security in Rwanda, organized under the KUNGAHARA Programme by @actionaidrwanda and its implementing partners, successfully concluded on 13 March 2026 in Kigali. @EU @RwandaAgri @RwandaLocalGov @Rwanda_Child

Through dialogue and collaboration, participants are exploring strategies that empower communities for particularly smallholder farmers to improve food availability and nutrition outcomes across the country.
