@Lucid00 You can. The amount of companies involved doesn't factor into the definition of a "golden age" at all. Many "golden ages" don't involve corporations; others, like a "golden age of Pixar" or "golden age of Marvel," have to do quite explicitly with a single company.

People are quoting and replying with mentions of the Switch 2 as-if one company makes something a "golden age". The Wii era wasn't "the golden age for motion controls", no it was Nintendo dominating the space. You can't have a one company golden age.

@DracaBro This is retarded. Solid indie games like Mina, Wall World 2, Judero and Night Swarm released on Switch since yesterday. A total of about 70 games in two days. Most of the same kind of crap you see on Steam, and some of the same gems. Most of your post doesn't even make sense.

I'm gonna chime in. You're all dumb, Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo do not have an ever expanding Library of games. Valve has a daily increase of games, some are great, some are crap, some are just meh, others are okay, some may steal info on your PC because you aren't careful. End of the day though, Steam is the only platform that has a Library of games that constantly expands, not all the games run on crap engine 5, some have their own engines that are easier on hardware. Yea the Steam Deck doesn't have any changes to hardware sure, but Steam itself is always updating, unlike other consoles that force you to update every now and then, steam is a platform not a console. You can move that one account to any other PC, you can move that account to a friends PC, you can play your older games and a crap PC, you can move those games to a brand new upgraded PC. Steam is a platform worth far more than Sony, Nintendo, or even Microsofts xbox. $200 more on something that connects to a Library that is always expanding, I'll be honest it's worth the price, but I'm not buying any of them. If you're leaving your PC for any reason go do another project or touch grass don't go bringing a mobile steam library with you to play more games.

People think S2 is expensive because they compare it to previous handhelds, not due to its actual BOM.

@SkocTM @Half_Life_III On paper they're fairly close; too close for the Deck to ever emulate Switch 2, and that's obvious to anyone with a cursory understanding of tech. The Switch 2 takes a clear lead with modern features like DLSS, RT cores, etc, which already equate to better perf in released games

I know this will be hard for Nintendo fans to understand but you actually don't need a Steam Deck to play games on the Steam store. In fact, an overwhelming majority of Steam gamers don't even have any Steam hardware. Hence why a Switch 2 price hike is significantly worse.
