BREAKING: Gordon Brown has now rowed in behind the prime minister, telling Labour MPs to 'put the needs of the country first' at a time when there are 'conflicts raging around the World' He says Keir Starmer deserves 'our full support' and dismisses the vote on referring the PM to the privileges committee as a 'parliamentary game' “At challenging times both for our country and the world, the Labour Party, has always sought to put the needs of the country first and with conflicts raging around the world with profound consequences for our country, this is the time to do so. “Whatever the parliamentary games at Westminster, what the country expects of everyone in Labour is to focus on the priorities of the British people, which is what Keir Starmer is doing and for which he deserves all our support.” Baroness Chapman is playing a significant role in the ring-round, Douglas Alexander is ringing the entire Scottish PLP They are taking the threat posed by the privileges committee very seriously indeed The very fact of the ring-round gives a very clear signal that the govt will whip against We have now had a former PM, a former home secretary and a former health secretary all weigh in behind Starmer. Any takers for Blair?

@Altgthr @AndyMitten @ideblad Do we offer a 1 year pay as you play deal? Helps new and young midfielders coming in and sets up his cult hero status? He can still do a job. Sentiment is a killer though and Fergie would have got rid but times have changed.

@Altgthr Great finish last night. Almost smashed the leather off it 😆. Noticed for a big lanky lad he has great close control and footwork. Some more service and someone to work with other than lazy bollocks Zirkzee and there’s a potential great in there.

When you look back on the striker market last summer, we definitely got the best deal of all those who were touted. Sesko is starting to find his feet. He’s going to be a top player.

@ben1981c It hasn't touched it mate, and my lot have already left, so I'm fucked. It's one of the biggest negatives of travelling distances, if you're fucked early you don't have the time to recover. If I was local I'd have a chance, but 4 or 5 hours on a bus... no chance

There's a strong chance my seat will be available tonight after me waking with the Brad Pitts. If you or anyone you know would like a night at Old Trafford, let me know.

@mark_robinson_ @Blakey_78UTD You missed getting rid of replays because 4 or 5 teams out of the entire FA happen to be successful and play in Europe too.

The real reasons the FA Cup has been devalued: - Clubs playing weakened teams - Rounds being spread over days, sometimes as many as five - Being on pay TV (i.e. not BBC or ITV) - Semi finals being played at Wembley - The final not being the last game of the season with a 3pm kick off Yet some people still blame it on United for not playing in it in 2000, even though they wanted to but weren’t allowed to. #MUFC #ManUtd #FACup

Not a fan of defenders falling 'late' onto the try scorer. Having a bloke land on your back, with no means to protect yourself, is pretty grim.

Spending the day travelling around London to recruit defenders for Man United tonight. Must be experienced and able to handle being a MUFC player. This lad has just signed a one night contract.

@__scottsaunders I agree. United made a point (through the media) that the next manager would know the league and had a winning pedigree. It makes you wonder.

Rate Nagelsmann as a coach. Like him. If United went for him, it'd be exciting and a big statement. But. Remember when you looked at Ten Hag's football and got excited about it being replicated? Remember when you marvelled at Amorim's Sporting team and his new-wave tactics that was going to revolutionise United? Can't help but feel a bit Groundhog Day. Latest flavour of the month. The moment it doesn't work straight away your patience will run out. If he gets it, I'll give him time. Most people will demand his appointment now and be critical at the first opportunity to do so.

How much of a point does Arteta have about intense schedule? Nuanced debate. Rice played 10 hours more league football than Kane this season. PL doesn’t have a winter break, loves pre-season tours, engaged in 2 domestic cups. Yet AFC in "less challenging" side of CL draw... 1/2

@RorySmith FA have been shooting English sides in the foot since they made United fly back from Belgrade in 57. What I do disagree with is allowing 4 or 5 teams to dictate how many games they play. That’s the pitfall of success. You can’t have it both ways.

You probably know that PSG had the weekend off before coming to Liverpool after Ligue 1 postponed their game with Lens. If it feels like a minor squabble, it shouldn't: scheduling leagues to make life easier for the biggest teams is a real problem. observer.co.uk/news/sport/art…

@timscoreboard First Leeds goal had a foul in the buildup. But. We played better with 10 than 11. Ugarte and Yoro had probably the worst individual performances of anyone under Carrick but Leeds were there for the taking and we let them play on their terms instead of imposing ours.
