@ambkcsingh @theasianage I think India has already taken a side - probably a wrong side. If GCC countries start aligning with Iran, which is most likely to happen, then Israel will be isolated. They are already having trouble with Trump!

Why would countries in the Middle East pay 20% of their revenues to the United States so that it can become the "Guardian of the Middle East"?
The Gulf countries came under attack from Iran precisely BECAUSE there were American bases on their soil. The US wasn't able to shield them from attack, and many in those countries argued that the US and its alliance with Israel was the reason for the threat in the first place.
A back of the envelope calculation shows that 20% of oil and gas revenues would come to more than 100 billion dollars a year! For that price, the Gulf could build a massive defence capability for itself.
P.S. Perhaps India can offer to be a "guardian" and help with defence and security for a fraction of that sum of money!! I'm sure that close allies like the UAE and Oman would be very interested.
