@TonyCowards "X" isn't real life. Real life is Reform leading the polls, near certain to take Ipswich at the next GE and real life is thousands of Ipswich fans supporting Reform. Stick to real life and you won't go far wrong.

The sad thing is that Ipswich Town have been regarded as a “nice” club that fans of other clubs, apart from that lot up the road, have had a lot of fondness for. We’re the club of Sir Alf, Sir Bobby and now Kieran McKenna. That’s all been thrown away. We’re now a meme.

@iceni60 How do you come to that conclusion? Reform lead in the polls. Reform are likely to form the next government. Reform are very likely to take Ipswich at the next election. Thousands of Ipswich fans support Reform and a social media storm from left wing activists does not =damage.

@LowerTiers Standing up for "what's right"? Who the hell are you to decide what's right? Reform are popular in Ipswich as they are all over the country, so perhaps you are out of touch?

Farage stormed out of PMQs sulking after being called out by the PM for: 📈Reform’s 9% council tax rise after promising cuts ❌Flip-flopping on a foreign war nobody wants 👎Their party built on division, not solutions Can’t handle scrutiny? Leave the room. Tata for now, Nige👋
Pippa Crerar@PippaCrerar

And then Nigel Farage walks out of PMQs with his Reform MPs. Last to leave green benches is Robert Jenrick, who dismisses the chamber with a wave of his hand.

Then they're entitled to their views. But if the club leadership allowed their brand to be associated with a far right political party. That's just dumb. Ignore who these guys are for a minute - if they'd allowed Jeremy Corbyn or even that buck toothed Green feller to do the same - it would be just as stupid. The team has supporters of all backgrounds - why risk alienating them? It needs to be a big tent to include everyone.

@ITFC_FSF So the "ITFC FSF!" can be as political as you like, but you don't want anybody else to do so? Polls suggest Reform is the most popular party in Ipswich and Suffolk so you should give fans more respect.

@IpswichTown Ipswich has a team drawn from many counties, creeds & racial backgrounds. Yet, it chose to allow its stadium & shirt to be used for crass political purposes by a man who incites hate & prejudice, & blames immigrant for all the UK’s ills. Boycott Ipswich.

@StPhilipthe2nd @MarkJLittlewood @SeanGM400 I'm well aware of your stance and argument. My argument is that all parties should be allowed to canvass anywhere they like; your argument is they shouldn't in case it "divides" people, in this case the fans.

@Adam_Townsend What a ridiculous thing to say from a grown man. A democratically elected leader of a mainstream party would hypothetically visit your club and you wouldn't get over it?? What about the thousands of fellow supporters who do support Reform? Don't they matter?

If Farage turned up at the Albion and used us for some PR, I think that would be it for me with football. I'm not sure I could get past it. Embarrassing from Ipswich. Feel for the many, many supporters who are probably questioning their club right now. #wba #itfc

@DaRamblingMan @MaxiWardley It's just Reform you object to isn't it? Thousands of Ipswich fans support Reform, and you are obviously aware of that. Don't they matter, or is it only parties you approve of can hold PR meetings at Portman Road?

@MaxiWardley Well it seems that the club’s statement implies farage was indeed a welcome guest. Odd time to bring this level of national humiliation to the club when we’re still trying to promotion.

@RJConway92 @Pat00758889Pat What exactly is your point? Politicians have done this for years, whatever their persuasion. It's just good PR. Football clubs are at the heart of communities and I'm sure we will see more of this in the future where all parties get their say.

@StPhilipthe2nd @MarkJLittlewood @SeanGM400 Well politicians couldn't go anywhere then, using that logic. They can't go to any organisation in case it "divides" people. They can't use social clubs, or Town halls, or shopping centres or meeting rooms in case someone, somewhere doesn't agree with them. Football is for all.

@Tom1_1970 @mcgregormt You poor thing. Would you be happy if we only allowed people in Portman Road who you like? Just imagine all those people in the stands around you who vote...Reform. I should take smelling salts to the next game in case one of them speaks to you.

@IpswichTown that maybe the case but you've been played as a club to allow Farage to use your team as a political tool, its his only reason for the connection to a football club, very foolish & it paints a bad picture for Ipswich fc

Following Monday’s visit by the Reform party and its leader, Nigel Farage, the club would like to issue the following statement: Ipswich Town Football Club has, over several years, hosted representatives from a range of political parties. The club remains apolitical and does not support or endorse any individual or party. The club will continue to engage with representatives from across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community. Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming organisation that supports all members of the local and wider community. This commitment remains unchanged.

Think Ipswich council should offer you cancelling like the idiots from Leeds Council offered, he’s a politician & if you like him or not you can’t just have Labour, the Conservatives or the nutters from the Greens turn up
Flibberty Gibbert@ReturnOfDadbo

If I’m employee of Ipswich Town, I’d be taking a look at Nigel Farage’s voting record on Workers Rights, then start asking questions about why he was given a heroes welcome at Portman Road.

@StPhilipthe2nd @MarkJLittlewood @SeanGM400 No party gets the majority of votes. The government were elected regardless of the majority voting for other parties. That's the way our system works. Football clubs are the heart of communities so are a perfect place for the leader of a mainstream party, to hold meetings.

@MarkJLittlewood @SeanGM400 Even at their strongest they are getting 30% amongst polls. So that leaves around 70% of people who don’t support them. It’s just a poor miscalculation, poorly misjudged PR. That goes for any club who do it with any political party.
