I told my parents that I’d like to drop out of my cs phd program at Stanford a few months back. (Japanese follows English) Life update! I'm moving on from my role as Head of Japan at Stability AI. Over 2+ years, my wish to fully focus on generative AI was thankfully fulfilled. I'm tremendously proud of the team and our accomplishments in Japan and APAC. For my next step, I've joined PixAI (company name is Mewtant), one of the leading global AI platforms for anime-style images. In addition to the image generation/sharing website (pixai.art) and mobile app, we are also working on an AI-powered manga/webtoon creation tool as well. I'll be leading research efforts globally and also heading up the Japan office (in Shibuya). I was very impressed by the company's vision, leadership team, and track record of strong execution focused on serving anime/manga fans globally. As a senior researcher who has both published in A* venues and has written toolkits himself and overseen the development of several others, it is humiliating to have to do leetcode grinding for a research scientist role in big tech. I have written more code than most people and I still will be judged for not being able to solve a coding question, WHICH BY THE WAY IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WILL DO A LOT IN BIG TECH BECAUSE WE HAVE CODING ASSISTANTS NOW FFS!

@3scorciav Perhaps, but this blue place works already a lot better than mastodon ever did. I created the account a couple of months ago, and when I went back yesterday found 1000 new followers, and lots of discussions. Will now be active there. It's enough for me.

I am also at the other place, the good place. The blue one. Same handle. Will see how this works out.
