@flawlessvictry7 @DUiagalelei I agree I'm a casual. But the overall D line impact just felt different this year compared to last year. Sacks might be a casual stat, but they're easy to see on tv versus a hurried throw that might still have it be completed or get a PI.

@deadpoolTARDIS @DUiagalelei 🤦‍♂️so many casuals on this app. People determine a players impact at edge solely by “sacks”. While having no clue what defense they are running or what each players job is on every play. Matayo was much better last year against the run and was constantly in backfield.

It’s all love, the focus is always on the team and what ever he can do to help them win. Stats don’t lie, although Sacks numbers was down, Matayo still lead the team with 52 PRESSURES 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

@DUiagalelei No 100%. Thats actually a really great stat to see and hear. And I definitely acknowledge that he got a lot of attention. From a less knowledgeable fan pov, it felt so different from last year, so that made it easy to question in the non ball knower way.

Interesting exercise to take what you think and compare it against another model visually. For instance I don't think that gap between Missouri and Illinois, South Carolina and Nebraska, Auburn or Vanderbilt and Minnesota is nearly that wide. I also suspect that Kentucky and Rutgers are more gapped out than it shows. Also a whole lot went right for Texas A&M last year and it made me, after viewing this, think: I wonder would I really take Texas A&M over USC or Michigan on a neutral field? I don't think I would.

@TheSlamDuck Unfortunately I dont see it happening from a budget or outside investment level. We're so all in on football, and others have the resources to be able to invest equally numbers wise on all sports vs just football, and staying not in the black. TEX is a perfect inachievable sight

The history obviously sides with Ohio State, and the same goes with their coaching staff vs Michigan's. There is one big "however", though. Michigan has more ultrawealthy alumni, shows a greater willingness to spend, and they still have a fantastic staff with Whittingham. If you don't get an NIL cap soon, and Michigan takes advantage of the alumni edge, they could outspend Ohio State in recruiting. That's what makes 2027 and beyond interesting, on top of Whittingham's staff being in year two and basically every starter coming back. However, that's only interesting. It's one big if. Right now, I would actually guess Ohio State spends more on NIL than Michigan does, by a decent chunk.
