@RobertFreundLaw Oh and Amazon kept on telling me it wasn't cancelling because I hadn't turned off auto-renew before unsubscribing!!! So they would just resubscribe me a few days later!!!

@RobertFreundLaw Prime got me with this, too. I tried multiple attempts to unsubscribe, navigating a labyrinth of poorly worded user flows. And all this after never signing up in the first place. Made me stop buying anything off Amazon for 3 years

In a lawsuit filed today, the FTC says Amazon has used deceptive "dark patterns" for years to trick users into buying Prime subscriptions. Amazon allegedly used a process internally called "Iliad" to make it hard to cancel.
