@rookisaacman It really helps with situational awareness, although there was one moment where I almost messed up an approach because I was taking cues from that rather than the navaid I was supposed to track. I have to be disciplined.

Getting close to my instrument checkride, and a few people have wished me ‘good luck’. And the truth is, I wouldn’t take the test if I needed good luck to pass. But, bad luck, that can ruin the best laid plans, so I’m still happy for the wishes and blessings.

@__apf__ We’re in San Anselmo next to San Rafael and the way my kids Spanish teacher pronounced ‘raff-aye-ell’ is burned into my brain.

every city name in California has three ways to pronounce it: (1) the Spanish way (2) the way an English speaker would pronounce it if they hadn't heard the name before (3) the way locals actually pronounce it, which is neither of the previous two. like San Rafell and Beneesha

After mating the Pegasus rocket carrying Katalyst's LINK spacecraft, @NorthropGrumman’s Stargazer L-1011 aircraft departed Wallops. Wallops' ability to support both spacecraft & Pegasus integration within weeks streamlined this mission to boost Swift's orbit later this summer. go.nasa.gov/4aaYaq4

SPACEX's PROJECT STARFALL SpaceX is targeting 6.43 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 23 for a Falcon 9 launch of its Starfall Demo Capsule from Cape Canaveral SFS, FL Starfall is not a traditional conical capsule. It features a flat, circular, disc-like form factor designed for autonomous space manufacturing and rapid global cargo delivery. The circular capsule measures 3.1 meters (10.2 feet) in diameter and 0.75 meters (2.5 feet) in height and has a dry mass of approximately 2,100 kilograms (4,630 lbs). Starfall features a two-part split structure comprising a 1,400 kg aluminum top plate and a 700 kg carbon-fiber heat shield. PAYLOAD CAPACITY Its internal payload bay measures 2.5 × 1.5 × 0.5 meters, allowing Syarfall to transport up to 1,000 kilograms (2,205 lbs) of return cargo. GUIDANCE & PROPULSION Starfall lacks a dedicated chemical propulsion system for independent deorbit maneuvers, relying on its launch vehicle or an external kick-stage to enter a reentry trajectory. For orientation and attitude control, the craft utilizes a network of cold-gas thrusters supplied by nitrogen tanks housed within the heat shield. REENTRY & RECOVERY Starfall uses its carbon-fiber thermal protection system to manage atmospheric heating. Deceleration is handled by a sequence consisting of a pilot chute, a drogue parachute, and a single main parachute. The 700 kg heat shield is mechanically jettisoned shortly before splashdown, after which SpaceX recovery vessels retrieve all spacecraft components from the ocean.

@MartyJ777 @DJSnM It's not new - there's been a traffic cone on the head of the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow since at least the 1980s... Queen Elizabeth II in Aberdeen wears one from time to time also. It's just a thing we do - every statue needs a traffic cone imho.

A recent Long March 12 launch used a new high energy Kerosene which increases specific impulse by about 2.5%. The Soviet Union developed something similar they named 'Syntin'. The fuel uses cyclopropane rings where the molecule is twisted tight, like a spring, this means extra energy contained in the same mass of fuel.

I love getting out of Washington and spending time with the people getting the job done! It was great visiting @NASAAmes for the annual center picnic, meeting employees, interns, and students, and hearing firsthand about the work shaping the future of science & exploration. I also had the chance to see some of the incredible capabilities that make Ames unique…from the world’s largest vertical motion flight simulator, where every Space Shuttle astronaut trained and no doubt those that will land on the moon will train, to the newly restored Hangar One, a landmark that represents both NASA’s history and its future. Every visit reminds me that America’s leadership in space is powered by the people who show up every day to solve hard problems and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
