MOPITT turned 25!🥳
Since 1999, this Canadian instrument aboard NASA’s Terra satellite has been scanning Earth’s atmosphere, tracking pollution & informing climate policies. Cheers to 25 years of impact and counting!

Here's to 25 Terra-ific years! 🥂
#OTD in 1999, Terra, the flagship satellite of the @NASAEarth Observing System, was launched into space. It has been continuously collecting data ever since to help us understand how Earth is changing over time.
Happy launchiversary Terra!!
Satellite trading cards just dropped! 🛰️
#DYK Terra and Aqua are named after the words for Earth and water in Latin, respectively? 🌎💧
Learn more “Sat Facts” about @nasa’s Earth-observing satellites and collect a new card every week this Summer of Satellites.
Members of @NASA's Earth Science Mission Operations (ESMO) Project communicate with the Aqua satellite every time it orbits the Earth — about every 99 minutes. Find out why, and what ESMO team members do when there's an anomaly, at go.nasa.gov/3yuwpqx
Happy Birthday🎉Aqua!
Since 2002, @NASA’s Aqua satellite has orbited the Earth more than 100,000 times and produced one of the longest near-continuous records of Earth observation data ever assembled. Learn about this satellites's remarkable story at: go.nasa.gov/3vHkDap
After more than 20 years in space, @NASA’s Terra satellite soon will embark on the next phase of its amazing journey. Learn more about Terra and Phase F in a new Earthdata article: go.nasa.gov/3E9KnP4
Here it is: humanity’s final look at @NASAWebb as it heads into deep space to answer our biggest questions. Alone in the vastness of space, Webb will soon begin an approximately two-week process to deploy its antennas, mirrors, and sunshield. #UnfoldTheUniverse
When the Terra satellite passed over the coast of Australia on Dec. 16th, it measured smoke from the recent fires in the region. @NASA’s Disasters Program worked to create the first interactive 3D visualization of this type of fire plume-height data. go.nasa.gov/2RlEVlx
Visitors to EROS tend to gravitate to the large globe in our atrium. The globe has been an EROS feature since 1984, although its surroundings have changed significantly. Check out more photos from our past by visiting the EROS History Project: ow.ly/QApD50xxQSO#TBT
What has traveled 2.5 billion miles without leaving the 705 kilometers around Earth? Terra, NASA's flagship Earth observing satellite celebrated 100,000 orbits around Earth on October 6, 2018. Learn about the people that make this possible. go.nasa.gov/2ILE081
What does it take to get 100,000 orbits worth of Terra Earth science #data back from space? Learn more about the systems that make this possible. go.nasa.gov/2A3cjVo
