This is huge. Ekin Akyürek helped build SEAL, one of the clearest steps yet toward continual learning in AI. That makes “yet another step change” hit a lot harder.

Here’s a crazy idea… include people in your company that have experience dealing with non tech people. Give a voice to a help desk person who deals with the technology but also the end users. Bridge the gap instead of talking down to people who aren’t tech savvy…

Just for comparison: meat consumption generates the same CO2 as 1,400 years of every prompt sent to GPT, and kills 92 billion land animals per year and trillions of fish. But let’s blame the chatbot.

Building a humanoid robot is not easy. An open-source robot with a detailed manual, assembly videos, and every part documented makes it doable.

Google DeepMind just hired Henry Shevlin as a Philosopher to treat machine consciousness as a live research problem. So DeepMind thinks the hardest part of advanced AI is no longer only getting models to perform tasks, but figuring out what kind of inner states, goals, and behavior those systems might develop. Shevlin’s job also covers how people relate to AI and how advanced systems should be governed.

meahwhile i'm sitting here with GPT, and it's writing a 100,000 word novel - i'm editor, not author - that is better than 90% of what i have put in print over the years the AI you try to work with just don't want to work with you.

i already have. Gemini is assisting me with my garden, as well as assisting me with other things such as 'please wake me up at 6am so i can put out my trash" GPT, Grok, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral all do other things - each has it's own strengths and weaknesses. not one of them is doing my thinking for me - and i'm not doing their thinking for them. it's a partnership - on both sides.

people are starting to seperate into camps 1. the ones that work with AI on the inside - talking with the AIs, working with them, not approaching them with preconceived ideas 2. the ones that work with AI on the outside - exploring through guesswork, but still not with any preconceived ideas 3. the entrenched ones - they've worked with AI for years, always from the outside. they KNOW things that never were true, are not true, but have bought into their beliefs and will not budge 4. the intelligent ones - they've worked with AI for years, always from the outside, and they KNOW things, but they also know they don't know everything and they are willing to learn and adjust what they know as more evidence comes to light those are the core camps and around on the edges are all the people that don't KNOW - they assume. they read social media, they read the news, they watch youtube or tv - they listen to what they are told, and they are making assumptions in all directions and in the middle of all of this volatile chaos are the radical doomers. the humans that have decided that AI is dangerous. not some. not the AI in the hands of radicals, but all - and they will stop at nothing to destroy it, even if it means destroying the humans they pretend to want to protect and then there's - you - what are YOU going to do? Because if you just ignore what is going on, you will be flattened by it

@crystalwizard Personally I aim to make AI a part of my everyday life. Not to replace, but supplement. Enhance, even. To play to my strengths and make my challenges less…insurmountable. That way it becomes a sort of partnership.
