Regardless of whether you're a monarchist or not, or whether you're a fan of King Charles (I can't say I am), events such as Trooping the Colour are one of the few occasions where Britain truly resembles Britain.
Streets decorated with the Union Jack, people coming together to celebrate tradition, and for a brief moment all the hypocritical, ridiculous moaning about the flag being "divisive" fades into the background.
You don't have to love the monarchy to appreciate a sense of national identity and pride. Frankly, we could do with a lot more of it.
