@hanlemc @sophielouisecc That’s not an argument, it’s a deflection. The point stands: responsibility matters, and policy should stop rewarding dependence.

It is not selfish to not want to pay for other people to have multiple children It is selfish to have multiple children which you know you can’t afford and you know you don’t work. Then expect someone else who does work to pick up the bill That’s genuine selfishness

@Anjelae9 @sophielouisecc Oh so you don’t have any actual insight or anything, you’re just booting off on an app that things are shit and parents are horrible with nothing else to offer? Cool

@hanlemc @sophielouisecc 2/2 Either get a job and support your children or accept help only on the clear understanding that you still contribute. Stop hiding behind “the children” to avoid responsibility.

@thenmillions @tcanham459 @stu4r7b Never said it wasn’t an issue, but the problem with thinking it’s “all” is people like you start discriminating against disabilities and making it harder for those who need the help to get it.

@hanlemc @tcanham459 @stu4r7b I’d rather people think it’s all and something be done about it, than people think it’s not an issue and it Carry’s on

There is a woman on @BBCNews this morning complaining that she is struggling to cope because she is out of work and has FIVE children. She says what a relief it is to get the extra money from @UKLabour with the removal of the two child benefit cap. My very simple question is - why have FIVE children knowing she won’t be able to afford to look after them? There is a very simple solution. It’s called Birth Control.

@thenmillions @tcanham459 @stu4r7b Because realistically it is happening very rarely, which is the original point being made. People are not getting all that, some people might do. But people are taking it as all.

@hanlemc @sophielouisecc Stop pretending this is about me not caring about children. Of course they should be supported. The issue is government policy — if work, childcare and family support were properly structured, fewer people would be trapped in this mess in the first place.

@RationeSolum @theveindoc @DrLukeCraddock Can’t be a me problem if thousands of people are saying the exact same thing. It depends on when you go, newer students will be paying it back at 25k which is incredibly low. So you are always still paying it.

@hanlemc @theveindoc @DrLukeCraddock You’ll pay it if you’re a high earner, you’re likely to have the debt wiped if you dint reach your earning potential. You not understanding what you signed is a you problem.

Another tax year done, another year my loan grows. Despite working more than full time as a doctor in my third year of practice my salary repayments don’t even cover the interest on my loan. What a farce of a system.

@hanlemc @sophielouisecc Benefit scrounges are not looking for anything other than free handouts, there are genuine Vars no doubt, but due to the influx of economic immigrants, bad actors this system is beyond broken. It has become a lifestyle choice for many.

@hanlemc @theveindoc @DrLukeCraddock You play the hand you’re dealt, if getting into a mountain of debt don’t expect others to pay it for you. Weldon to the real world.

@RationeSolum @theveindoc @DrLukeCraddock Okay but if I save 27k and have to get a 5k loan for food and rent while I’m not working, I can’t afford it. So your answer is, go to uni late and/or only the rich can afford to. Fucking elitist

@hanlemc @theveindoc @DrLukeCraddock Don’t take a loan you can’t afford, I can’t believe that needed highlighting. That’s not a no loan stance.
