New research from Uganda in @NEJM shows that insecticide-treated baby wraps can cut malaria cases in babies by two-thirds. Using wraps that caregivers' already use to carry babies, treated fabric offering daytime protection.

At the end of 2025, the Malaria Atlas Project looked back on 25 years of #malaria control in #Africa to assess what has worked & how far we’ve come. The findings are encouraging. Since 2000, malaria interventions have averted an estimated 1.57 B cases & 5.7 M deaths, with insecticide-treated nets delivering the biggest impact. Even with growing populations, more people are protected than ever before. Despite this, the data also sounds a warning. Progress has stalled since 2015, not because the tools fail, but because coverage has stopped expanding. Reaching 80% ITN coverage could reignite the sharp declines seen between 2005–2015, alongside locally tailored strategies that reflect geographic differences.
