@BuzzPatterson Class of 1974 as well. My boyfriend had a green Mustang with an 8 track tape deck and huge speakers in the back. At dismissal the sound of muscle cars peeling out of the student parking lot was the best!

It’s 1974. My senior year in high school. I was the new kid in a new school after my dad received an Air Force reassignment. I loved it anyway! Steamy Arkansas nights, high school football games, streaking at McDonalds, wearing my letter jacket, and chatting up the cheerleaders. This is me and this was “Free.” x.com/ThoNg676733/st…

@johnrich @GovKathyHochul Thank you John. My husband and I were driving around the Batavia area... Genesee County (very snowy in the winter) The solar farms already there and that are in the process of going up is staggering. Miles and miles of them. Quite shocking.

@farmingandJesus Western NY (not "upstate" those people are crazy) we've been holding at $4.99 for awhile. I get gas points at our local grocery store so hubby saved 20 cents a gallon today.

@johnrich @alex_fasulo I grew up on a small farm in western NY. My family lived there for over 80 years. There were farmer's fields across the street that have now been replaced with a hugh solar farm. My parents would be devastated to see it.

@farmingandJesus Probably from the stress of it all. I had horrible hot flashes that kept me awake. The dentist made me a great night guard (cha ching) that kept me from cracking any more teeth. I also had itching all over.

@farmingandJesus I started grinding my teeth so bad I cracked 2 molars and needed crowns. When I told my dentist it was due to perimenopause he looked at me like I had two heads. Poor man.

Perimenopause is crying because you wanted to wear specific overalls because you feel like shamoo and the make you feel less whale like … but the metal thing on strap broke. Thank God my husband stayed calm and fixed it unlike me sweating and crying my makeup off. That was ridiculous 😭 I HATE perimenopause. It’s so stupid!!!!!!!!

I brought him home just a few hours ago. He nibbled a little food, looked up at me with these nervous, sleepy eyes — and then slowly curled himself into a tiny ball and fell asleep. And honestly? I haven't been able to stop watching him since. His name is Pepper. He's a tiny Tuxedo kitten. Small enough to fit completely inside my two cupped hands. Soft. Quiet. Brand new to a life that's about to be so much gentler than the one he had before. I don't know his whole story.

@bluelivesmtr My son is a police officer. He recently brought a woman escaping an abusive partner to the bus station and bought her a ticket to wherever she needed to go to get away from him. 💙

POWERFUL: This woman approached a police officer and said: "I'm pregnant. I'm homeless, I'm a drug addict, and I'm done." There was a treatment center she wanted help getting into, but had no transportation. The officer didn't hesitate - he followed procedure by checking her pockets, then put her in his patrol vehicle and asked if she was hungry. On the way to the center, he took her to grab dinner on his dime... giving her the choice to eat outside with him or in the car out of respect to her. Then he he drove her straight to the treatment facility and handed her off safely. THESE are the stories the media buries. Let's fix that. #thinblueline #lawenforcement

@WillRinehart We are fortunate to have a large family. Everyone, grandkids included, took whatever they wanted. My mom's beloved tea cup collection is still among all of us.

This was by far the most emotionally taxing part of settling my parent’s estate. My parents died months apart, both at the age of 71, two years ago, and what made it difficult was coming to terms with all of the life planned to live. What really got me were the empty baby books my Mom got for the grandbabies yet to be. I have a feeling a lot of Millennials, when they are faced with this decision, are just going to junk it all. While I understand that path, I just couldn't do it. I went through every last item as a last act of service to my parents who gave me so much. I went through every piece of paper, every picture, every drawer, organizing the stuff that is important while throwing away all the junk. I filled two 30-yard roll offs with trash, gave away furniture and kitchenware to my young cousins starting their own life, and still have a full storage unit of stuff. My parents always talked about cleaning out the house, and for a while, I was frustrated that I did what they never could. But dealing with it all resulted in a form of self-revelation. I found my Mom's poetry, clippings from my grandfather's political campaigns, and long lost letters from my great grandmother. I found my uncle's hand carved box that I had never seen before, and the knives they took away from me as a kid. I found my old boombox that would lull me to sleep that I now use in our second bedroom for audio. At the time, I saw the task as one of stewardship. Now it I understand it as something much more. I was coming to terms with two lives that have passed, one psychically loaded item at a time. I sorted every item with care rather than avoidance, recovered aspects of myself I thought were lost or didn't even know, and have emerged with a richer, more continuous sense of my place in the world. I am forever indebted to my wife @CharDreizen for giving me the space and the time to deal with all of it. I know others don't have such understanding spouses or partners. But when I underline passages in a book using a Paper Mate #2 that I know was my Dad's or look up from my desk to see my Mom's conch shell collection mixed with my own sperm whale trinkets, I feel this deep connection with them. But that connection is not imbued with nostalgia for childhood. It reminds me that my childhood has long since passed, that my home is the one I've built with my wife, and that I am the keeper of what they left behind. They are not behind me. They are with me, moving forward.

When your parents die you will, if you're lucky, be an adult with a home full of your own possessions and all of a sudden you have to fairly swiftly deal with your parents home and all of their possessions and you absolutely cannot cram all of the latter into the former.

@cutecats_____ My husband was never a cat person until we got our little Maine Coon. He was quickly smitten. When we'd come back home he'd say "where's the baby?" and search for her 😻
