Many mainstream conservatives are worried about the increasing desire for ethnic political representation among younger whites Understandable, race is not the healthiest fixation for identity, but they’re approach to opposing this is misguided Ironically, ethnocentrism is a characteristic that varies wildly between races and is particularly low among white Europeans and their descendants So if you take a USA of primarily European extraction and add some immigrants you’ll have a pretty tolerant and accepting society, even the new arrivals who may be predisposed to ethnocentrism don’t have enough of their coethnics around to gain the advantage, so they are far more likely to assimilate The problem comes when you move large blocs of people into the country of the same ethnicity who have zero problems with ethnocentrism, because they can and will leverage that advantage and see no reason to adopt a different political understanding In a system where one part of the society believes in pure meritocracy and the others all operate on ethnocentrism the tribalism wins, it is the superior strategy and the salience of race skyrockets Young whites see everyone else deploying tribalism and winning, and they ask why they are the only group denied this winning strategy The response of conservatives has been to make some kind of vague general rebuke of ethnocentrism, but to only really reject it for whites, and this is the major mistake Conservatives will say they oppose identity politics, but will then pander directly to these ethnocentric groups They will say nothing about blacks, Indians, Hispanics, or Jews having prominent racial solidarity organizations, in fact they will appeal directly to them Conservatives might say something about the Somali fraud schemes because they are so clumsy and blatant, but they will not address other diasporas who are more sophisticated in their ethnic cartels If conservatives were serious about stopping the rise of collective white identity politics they would stop spending all their time lecturing young white people for noticing the obvious They would instead attack the systemic bias against whites in corporations and academia, they would create an immigration moratorium, they would aggressively prosecute every ethnic cartel, they would lecture blacks, Indians, Hispanics, and Jews just as aggressively as they lecture young whites now about the dangers of ethnocentrism If conservatives are serious about this they should reduce the number of ethnocentric populations young white people are expected to compete with on pure merit If you want to reduce the salience of race stop importing ethnocentric cultures and stop creating carve outs for ethnic minorities In short, show young whites that they can succeed without ethnocentrism by lecturing the far more ethnocentric minorities as aggressively as you do young white people
