Since I really wasn’t feeling the previous design, I redesigned Jill from scratch — this one turned out way more badass! I also did a metal cover of “Jill’s Reflection“. Hopefully we’ll see her in Resident Evil Requiem!

All this Jill marketing is probably for her Requiem DLC but I'm kinda holding out hope for an RE3R Directors Cut

@lastchalice @RE_Games @CapcomUSA_ Takes me a while to finish the game I need to take regular breaks. Did not enjoy the orphanage part when Grace is seeing where she came from did not enjoy that part of gameplay at all. Great killing Mr X after being chased through RE2

I finished Resident Evil Requiem for the first time.
To keep things fresh and interesting, since I also agree with the general consensus that this is one of the best Resident Evil games ever made, I’m going to start with the things I didn’t care for.
1. No matter how well it’s done (and it’s done very well) there will always be a slightly off juxtaposition of switching between two characters that play so differently, especially if they’re played in different perspectives.
2. Bosses in Requiem are…fine. They’re never bad, but they’re never anything you have not seen before. Certainly not new and inventive.
3. There’s an argument to be made that Requiem honors the remake versions of its history rather than the original games that kicked everything off.
4. There are some moments, particularly in Leon’s portion of the game that feel like they linger on a bit longer than they should. This is also coupled with the fact that much of Leon’s campaign feels like they’re taking another stab at RE6, but actually doing it correctly. It’s very flashy, which once again can feel at odds with how much more substantive Grace’s sections feel.
These issues I feel are greater than “nitpicks”, but honestly they do little to detract from the phenomenal experience Resident Evil Requiem offers as a whole. It feels like this package is the culmination of Capcom’s learnings with the franchise over the last 10 years. They’ve brought all of their best, and left the worst behind.
Grace Ashcroft immediately shot up to a top 5 RE character and was portrayed with an immense amount of emotion and range. We’ve already seen our first voice acting nominee for The Game Awards later this year. Her segments represent some of the best moments of survival horror this series has ever delivered. The personalities of the undead as they continue to do what they did in their previous life was a genius way to bring a very common video game enemy forward.
Leon, on the other hand exists as a power fantasy and a reprieve from the horrors you’re experiencing as Grace. I loved the moment to moment action of going through these spaces as a one man army, even if it never felt quite as satisfying as his best moments in Resident Evil 4.
I personally feel that Requiem is fan service done right. It calls back on the franchise’s history in ways that make sense while never being afraid of carving out its own identity. The narrative Requiem puts forward may be the best in terms of holding your attention and keeping you on the hook to find out what happens next. The entire cast delivers and it’s hard not to feel satisfied by the journeys end. The ending boss fight hit extra hard for me, because I had just finished RE3 remake hours prior. If you know you know.
If time is kind to any one aspect of Requiem I think it will be that it was a victory lap for a publisher that is at the peak of their powers. It’s rare to receive a product that so deeply understands exactly what its fan base wants and manages to deliver with flying colors. I think this will be an entry we’re discussing with the likes of RE2 and RE4 for many decades to come. If there’s one word to describe how Capcom’s latest efforts makes me feel about the modern day AAA gaming space, it’s hope.
