@UnionMac1 @Psychgirl211 Right. But IQ is biased BS. the very next line in your link says "The review of the literature found that no well-designed studies have ever been conducted to properly assess the impact of puberty blockers on cognitive function."

Dr. Dr. P: "No men. No exceptions".
These are the IQ scores of a child on PBs. IQ is a stable construct. It should not change significantly over the lifespan. (Your IQ at four should be pretty much the same as your IQ at, say 90). But the scores here are all over the place because PBs cause brain damage. That's how they work. They hit the brain to switch off puberty. The designers of the PB trial know this, which is why they are including measures of IQ and neurocognitive functioning as part of their clinical outcomes. Again: 1. They already know PBs cause a drop in IQ. 2. They are going ahead anyway.

Amazing how concrete can prevent a delivery truck from parking in the bike lane in a way that paint cannot

@catrick328 I have an elderly cat with feline tooth resorption. He has like two teeth left. I feed him mostly chopped fish and Royal Canin soft food. He does get small pieces of dried food as treats because he likes them, but he cannot chew them, so he only gets a few at a time.

This is where is gets crazy… 🐜 The owners had seen her crawling with ticks and fleas ⛽️ There is an old myth that gasoline kills the ticks and fleas. She was being doused in gasoline for months to try heal her (4/7)

People starting spotting this Husky on the streets here in Thailand and sending it to me. It took us about a week to catch her. What a story she has to tell (1/7) 🧵

@1pluseipi @essexhighways No real harm. I was just disappointed in their response. It *could* have been far worse, & I explained that. This was a while ago, though the pot hole that caused that off was there for at least 5 years before being repaired. I stubbornly reported it on a regular basis 😆

Actual footage of me cycling along Hatfield Road in Witham, trying to work around the 1/2km of potholes each way. Yes, I should use the portal to report them - but there are SO MANY and the reports will probably all be ignored anyway.

Boss in a former job wanted to make me redundant. I half-jokingly said "okay, but I know about you cheating on your wife". Before I could say "just kidding", the colour drained from his face. I wasn't made redundant.

All good and valid points but absolutely zero self reflection on the ways some cyclists play their part. A lot of these points could also be aimed at some cyclists. Any road user who just finger points is a part of the problem.
Safer Roads Yorkshire@SaferRoadsYorks

Why are some motorists so angry towards cyclists? Here is a range of phycological and social factors that drive the irrational animosity towards people who are often just making use of the public highway like anyone else. Any of these ring true?

@righttobikeit I’ll pick the first one and just flip the user words Displaced Anger: Cyclists may vent their frustrations on other road users due to anger from other situations in their lives.

I think @datepsych / Alexander did collect some data on that. The result was that women think that reading is a very attractive hobby in a (potential) mate. Nevertheless, doing physical stuff together (like climbing) has a charm which a visit to to the book store cannot easily have. (The first tweet was about dating.) The problem is just that a typical bookworm (i.e. a novel reading dreamer) could lack agency. Just watch some films about novel reading dreamers. There are stereotypes out there, about novel reading dreamers or "romantics", which point at these patterns.

@SketchesbyBoze Books are fun. But books are unsexy. Women don't desire bookworms. (At least it's easier to meet women - or to have some dates with women - in a boulder hall than in the library.)

@drmcopeman @LynAdamson1 @BrentToderian Look.... These posts are not here to say that everyone has to cycle, no matter their personal circumstances. They are here to say 'look what happens when you enable cycling'. If you need to transport an elderly parent, then by all means, use whatever transport mode you need to.

When urbanists take videos of a Paris street showing all the people on bikes taking advantage of protected infrastructure, it’s not just because we “like bikes.” It’s because we’re picturing the gridlock if they were driving cars. And the public cost, the pollution, the noise…
