Worst claiming used car according to @Warrantywise data. Velar was 2nd worst. Not good to own out of warranty. But does so many other things well and was a fav of Prince Philip of course.

@MCosovich @AutoPap It replaced a Daimler double six vandenplas which was comfortable but unreliable (tended to overheat in traffic jam). The S500 was our go to car when we were being scruffy and did not wish to be seen in a Rolls.

@MCosovich @AutoPap It was a really terrific car that we ran until it was about 10 years old - it never once went wrong - that is until the day it caught light! !

@mcnc59 @AutoPap Wow ,A car way too complex for it's time, packed with electrikery just waiting to go wrong. Whereas this 240D has no electronics, and being Diesel even the fuel does not ignite easily. W123 2.4M made, never seen one burnt out.. Less can be more sometimes..

@MCosovich @AutoPap Our w140 (S500l) caught fire whilst driving. A faint pop and then quite a lot of smoke, soon followed by a great deal of fire! No portable fire extinguisher could have put it out. Car all gone in about 3 minutes - whilst we watched from a healthy(ish) distance!

@AutoPap Always available as an extra on Classic W123 models, with special holder on passenger seat base, But in nearly 50yrs with these cars, I've never heard of one burn out, but a sensible precaution.

Finally got rid of that 4.0 litre flat six engine and replaced it with 42kW batteries. It’s still so fast, can’t take a corner anymore but as long as I can home charge I don’t care. #TaycanUpTheBackside
