@baldween_n @dialecticalsaba His first two were great, his next few were good, the rest careen between unwatchable hogwash and entertaining hogwash.
English

@dialecticalsaba Being completely sincere, as someone who's only seen unbreakable, which of his movies are actually good
English

This is completely true, not sure why people think this is a bad take
Seer@mise_en_seer
only discourse contribution: Shyamalan is not only better than Spielberg, but better than all the guys pictured below except De Palma
English

@AmusedToDeath1 I think the opposite is true, qualitatively. Curb at its best was better but Seinfeld never dropped off as much. The first 4 seasons of Curb in particular are masterful, every episode is like a magic trick.
English

Curb is amazing ofc, but the peak of Seinfeld is superior. Curb was never peak enough to alter culture like Seinfeld did, or even It's Always Sunny. You understand the implication? Because it's the implication that matters
Mr. Beat@beatmastermatt
Curb Your Enthusiasm was always far superior to Seinfeld
English

@LilUziVartan @AmusedToDeath1 Every episode of Curb has very intricately designed plots and subplots. Structurally it's identical to Seinfeld; the only difference is the dialogue is ad-libbed as opposed to written.
English

@AmusedToDeath1 Problem is Curb is just Larry doing stand up, and he is in fact incredibly annoying. Seinfeld had characters and plots

🚨🗣 Lionel Messi on being 'weird' and 'strange':
▪️“I know I’m a bit weirder than most people in some things... I like being alone a lot.”
▪️“Sometimes the chaos at home with the three kids running all over the place ends up saturating me, and I need my moments of loneliness.”
▪️“In those moments when I’m alone I can be just lying down watching TV or a match. Nothing special, just being quiet.”
▪️“It depends on my mood, but very small things, tiny details, can really affect me... If someone moves something from where I left it or changes what I had planned for the day, it can already put me in a bad mood.”
▪️“I’m very structured. If I have my day organized in a certain way and something happens in the middle that isn’t planned, I’m already annoyed.”
▪️“When I’m like that, I shut down. I don’t communicate it, I process it inside.”

@Nomads4Pritzker He's not supposed to be some great actor. He's merely playing "the host" to the brilliant ensemble around him. And his amateurish acting is actually hilarious because he's essentially one of us, barely keeping it professional.
English

Waiting to board our flight in Washington and there are 3 Scotland fans in kilts walking past. An American lady says" I love your skirts"
"They're nae skirts lassie they're kilts , We're Scots not Trannies" I genuinely Lol #tartanarmy #fifaworldcup @jk_rowling
English

@urlofcork @jk_rowling Possibly true, if they doing a kind of pantomime, as you say
English

@never_cursed_88 @jk_rowling Read the time line , most Scots seemed to think its fine. Being Irish we have a common Celtic link and I know what I heard. Now the lads might have been hamming it up a sort of Scots version of Stage Irish but defo legit
English

@urlofcork @jk_rowling Perhaps something happened but a Scot would probably say they ur'nae as opposed to they're nae, and again, Lassie, doesn't fit the profile of the people you're describing. The quotes seem too stereotypical to be real.
English

@BBW_BFF Someone said the other day they didn't understand why people liked horror movies. And I said a similar thing. I don't even know if I believe it, but it sounded vaguely logical. I think my own receptivity is more aesthetic, based on the way the genre creates physical sensations.
English

@flapdoodle91296 @Miss_AshG MJ took the opposite tack for rationalisation: it was all innocence and purity, and if anyone suggested otherwise it was their own corruption and degenerancy, not his. Simple and perhaps unconvincing but potent giving the image of himself he propogated.
English

@ChloeNumberIII It's like some choirboy desperately trying to be like PTA

The most embarrassed I've been for an actor in a theater was watching this scene. She hasn't given a good (lead) performance since 2019
BlueBriefing🎬🍿@Uzonna7
Greta Gerwig cooked with that dinner scene. Perfect lighting, fake smiles, crushing anxiety, cinema. Margot Robbie deserves every award for making us laugh while having a quarter-life crisis at the table. 🎬🎥 Barbie ❤️🔥😱
English

@river_dusty Maybe this is a shrewd tactic from MJ. Happily admit to the sleepovers and act like the world is crazy and degenerate for even having the thought of something beyond that, and basically avoiding the ritualised denial process with the media.

Is it really possible that someday someone will surpass this man's levels?
English

@1dayattatime1 @husseymfhussey @wil_da_beast630 The elite *might* have been better but the depth inarguably wasn't.
English

@husseymfhussey @wil_da_beast630 10 of the twenty on the list is from Jack’s era.

@Tomolivia24 Cameo is his career-best performance lol
English

@BadFilmTakes1 I think i prefer the smaller, naturalistic stuff, meeting with the schoolteacher, giving Willa the letter, listening to the receiver at the end, the gentle moments, it's just such a generous performance.
English

My favorite acting moment Leo does in OBAA is when he's trying really hard not to panic that Lockjaw's going to bust down his door any second, and his first instinct is to take another hit from his joint. It's my favorite thing he's done since the Quaaludes scene from Wolf.
Mark Johnson ™️@MarkLikesMovies
Watched One Battle After Another again tonight. I think Leo should win for this scene.
English

Tonight, again, enjoyed a couple of episodes of The X-Files written by Vince Gilligan. I watched Season 6, Episode 14 “Monday,” and Season 7, Episode 3 “Hungry.” “Monday” is a time-loop story. When the cause of the loop is finally revealed at the end, it’s quite heartbreaking. “Hungry” is structured like an episode of Columbo, told from the monster’s point of view. The fact that the brain-eater works at a hamburger joint adds a darkly comic touch 🍔.

@TheScoreBoardHQ @TheCinesthetic Actually she was often totally, fanatically illogical in her reasoning, making the most acrobat attempts to avoid the obvious, evidence-based conclusions.
English

@TheCinesthetic She didn't just stand behind Mulder; she ran circles around him with logic. while the new Hulu reboot is moving forward with fresh faces, Gillian Anderson is staying busy with her first-ever horror lead in Camp Miasma
English

Dana Scully in The X-Files is an all timer. Sharp, grounded, never rattled, and fully capable of handling herself when things get ugly. She isn’t just Mulder’s counterbalance, she’s the backbone of the show.
