@danmanganmusic One of my favorite things about living in Seattle was seeing artists like you (and John K Samson, and Daniel Romano, and Black Mountain, and Whitehorse (and more)) play very cool smaller venues. Appreciated that you invited people to stick around and chat in those settings.

@AK_Urban_1 We called when this proposal came out and their explanation was basically “we’re trying to solve all potential future problems with the intersection”, which seems to at least recognize that there’s barely an issue now, and is also truly the dumbest use of a giant pile of money.

Next time you're trying to cross a road owned by AKDOT, set a timer for how long you wait & how long it takes to cross.
Then remember that same agency wants to spend $60 million+ to reduce a similar delay for a few drivers, a few weekends a year, outside of girdwood

@Chris_Doyle22 15 years ago - Travis Sexsmith. To this day he’ll pick up a bike after not touching it for a year and do something that blows the minds of everyone present. Guy’s living a pretty good life though.

@JDylanBurke @bigbert_44 Only real reason to do it would be to free up capspace to take on other bad money and acquire some assets. They’re not doing that though.

@bigbert_44 You know, I'll have to admit that it's not quite as grim on that front as I recalled, after a quick scan of CapFriendly. Still, not what you'd call the ideal situation for a team that (should) be thinking long term.

OEL as a scratch isn't just the right move when viewed through the lens of fielding the most competitive roster (he's plainly not an NHL calibre defenceman anymore). It's the right move from a big picture perspective, too.

@yolo_pinyato Saw the salary structure for Washington recently and was surprised. Most experienced teachers should be over $100k, or close. They passed a law recently that bumped everything up a lot though.

@GarretHohl Also, whether the prosecution could or couldn’t clear the (theoretical) high bar to take away his rights and freedoms shouldn’t really impact anyone’s ability to form an opinion on whether or not he likely commited a crime. These are two very different things.

That’s true… The legal system and juries are never wrong, and everyone human being deserves at least two shots to make millions as a NHL player as a basic right.

@SethPartnow One of the great sayings I’ve carried through the years from a former teacher, “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing badly”. Healthy coaching/teaching guides kids through learning curves with a long-term view and puts in the work to help them succeed through ups and downs.
