@TEDTalks @VjosaOsmaniPRKS Yes to Lia/Will Thomas, but no to Nancy Hogshead? This is not a “progressive”/conservative issue: I have always voted Democrat. Are you funded by the right, with the intent of further dividing the so-called left with gender lunacy? It’s working!

@KQED This is why I’m a former KQED supporter & listener. Your framing is anything but objective: it’s about keeping girls’ sports for girls. Why are you so sexist? What do you have against girls having their own things, regardless of some boys’ feelings?

One minute to save a kudu’s life. During a targeted patrol, our SWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Team found four medium-game snares, and then a fifth, tethered to a tree, with its quarry still alive. The wire had wrapped around the kudu’s horns and face, tightening with each attempt to pull free. Every minute mattered. The team alerted Kaluku Headquarters and a plan was hatched. One that would involve lassoing the kudu and then quickly cutting away the wire. For this kudu, our team’s patrol made the difference between life and death, and because of the snares collected that day, other lives were spared, too. @_bezpilotnik @runthinkwrite @UniofOxford Peter Mitchell, you’re running for office? As a Green Party candidate? What happened to focusing on the climate crisis? How did the Green Party become the party of regressive sexists? Are you a secret operative paid by Big Oil? I’m serious. What has happened to the Greens?

Here's a story that will tell you a bit about @UniofOxford (and a bit about me). When I was an undergraduate in the 80's I had a girlfriend, who I will call C, who was not at my college (Trinity) and not on my course (PPE). Her college and her course had an eminent, youngish, left wing don, with a significant profile and a feminist-friendly reputation. But he was a bit of a drunk, and quite bit of a lecher, who made C feel uncomfortable, in the days when that meant something. C, being C, a socialist feminist, decided to do something about this, and put the word out that she wanted to do something. C arranged a meeting and *every single female undergraduate on that course in the whole college* - some twenty people- turned up. They reported the same sorts of behaviour conducted in private: drunk tutorials, inappropriate remarks, sitting down, too close, to individual student on the sofa, leering, organizing one to one tutorials, with the female students but not the males, oversharing about his private life, all the actions you can imagine. Every single woman knew what he was like, every woman objected, despite the fact that many of them had applied to that particular college because of their respect for him. By acting, C broke the spell. They arranged to see the head of the College. All of them, every single female student studying X at college Y. The head of the college had to act, and an unsatisfactory Oxford compromise ensued. The don in question was relieved of all undergraduate teaching and moved to a graduate only college. He wasn't dismissed, and there was no publicity. But I remain full of admiration for C. Sexual harassment at Oxford is not new - and this 👇is sexual harassment. Some clever men in positions of authority engage in this sort of action with impunity, particularly putting female students on edge, even when their behaviour is otherwise formally correct. It takes great courage to call them out, especially for female undergraduate students . But maybe, when you do, you will find that lots of female students feel the same.

How did we reach the point where a male lecturer at @UniofOxford can wear gigantic fake breasts, with cleavage, and everyone else is expected to ignore it?

Ah ok yeah a lot can get mixed up in one post For me 2019 was also the year I went “Huh???” and since then a running theme I see is how so much of ‘trans’ revolves around stereotypes - either reinforcing them or trying to escape from them (I don’t know anything about your child who’s reaching for a ‘NB’ identity but I’m guessing this plays a role for them. Using ‘them’ here in a neutral sense, not the NB affirming sense 😆😉) My thing is therefore (well, one of my things): can we please broaden the bandwidth of man so fewer feel the need to jump ship or ‘identify’ away from being a man. Can we get rid of the straightjackets 🚮 You use the word gentleness, and JKR also mentioned her friend being gentle. While gentleness might make them different from other men, it makes them no less of a man. Sure, it’s not stereotypically ‘masculine’, but going another step further and saying it’s ’female-coded’ to me brings us back to those sexist stereotypes I’m so keen to dismantle, not (perhaps inadvertently) uphold I was that gentle kid. I got bullied relentlessly for it, particularly when I was 7-9. These are young formative years and it’s made a huge impact, more than I’d like to admit. During my teens I kept getting told I should’ve been born a girl, that I “wanted to be a woman.” In my twenties I kept getting cast as a ‘transsexual’. It was traumatising in those early years, confusing in my teens and twenties, and I am so glad I was born in the 70s and never got caught up in the medical side of things for I think I would’ve been sucked into it. Being gentle also often means being more impressionable and eager to please So my general message to the masses is: let boys and men be gentle. Don’t think of it as making them ‘female-coded.’ They should have as wide a scope to be gentle as women and girls without being thought of as less of a man. Reclaim these ‘transwomen’ stories as men’s stories so they may inform us on the societal pressures on men to conform to certain masculine ideas and the lengths they’ll go to to escape them And imagine if boys and men allowed themselves to be gentle, how much better their mental health would be, how much anger and violence (particularly against women and girls) could be avoided, how there’d be lesser ‘toxic masculinity’. Ok maybe that’s a bit idealistic but I live in hope 🤞 So here’s to the gentle men, so that there may be more gentlemen

I deleted that post because I can’t be arsed with the TERF wars on pronouns and all the shit that inevitably rains down on any woman voicing “wrong think” opinions. As I’ve been saying for years when even JKR isn’t pure enough for them, they need a rethink.

its been truly disgusting watching the witch hunt against Dr Upton move over to Australia. The goal of terfs is clearly to drive trans people out of public life and stop them being able to work in their professional fields and have basic privacy.
