POS v11.0 is about what merchants actually care about:
→ The cart stays in view while staff work
→ Edit multiple items without repeating steps
→ Find or add customers instantly
→ Checkout with fewer taps
This is where @Shopify POS is headed. Not just faster checkout, but designed for how retail actually works.

🚀 Exciting news: I’ve joined the incredible team at @Owner as their Chief Design Officer!
Over the past few months, I took time to pause and reflect – to think deeply about what I wanted from the next chapter of my career. I wasn’t in a rush. I had the privilege of connecting with so many brilliant people and teams. But my first conversations with @adamguild and others at Owner stood out immediately. Their passion for the mission – and the caliber of the team they’ve built to pursue it – was impossible to ignore.
I spent nearly a decade leading design at @Shopify, where we built products that empowered the everyday heroes: entrepreneurs, small business owners, and the people who power our local economies. Finding another company so deeply committed to helping owners thrive in this new era felt like coming home, to continue the work on a mission I care so deeply about.
The opportunity ahead is massive. The talent here is world-class. And the chance to once again serve the people building the backbone of our communities is an incredible privilege.
During the last few weeks, I spent a lot of time with Adam and team exploring what we want Design to mean here – and I’m inspired by their ambition. My commitment is to build an environment where design and designers can truly thrive: where craft is paramount, and where we leverage our skills to show the world a new future. Where every team member is raising the bar higher and inspiring their peers. Where curiosity drives innovation, where we have fun, and where we push each other to do the best work of our careers – together.
If that sounds like the kind of place you’d love to be, reach out. We’ll be growing the team soon.
Let’s go 🚀

Proud of this one – a culmination of many months iterating on design, stress testing, and rebuilding the POS design system from scratch.

We just shipped v10 of @Shopify POS. Major redesign. Faster. Smarter. And built for selling in person, your way. Here are the headlines: - Branded POS screens - New home screen layout & navigation - Redesigned cart - Smarter, faster search Fewer taps. Cleaner workflows. More control. If you’re not already selling in person, there’s never been a better time to start.

For merchants selling in-store or on the go, we're adding some of your most requested features to @Shopify POS.
Customer segments now include distance-based filters so you can drive customers to local stores and events.
Customer metafields are now on Shopify POS so you can capture and leverage customer data at retail. Save details like shoe size and let staff know when to offer a birthday discount. Metafields sync instantly across POS and online sales channels, giving you more insight into a customer’s preferences.
Offline payments are easy. Now, if you lose your internet connection, you can still accept payments with a Shopify card reader. No more lost sales.
Unverified returns are now possible, so when a customer doesn’t have a receipt or order number, you can refund to a gift card. This will be especially convenient for holiday gift returns.
The barrier to entry for selling in person has never been lower. You don’t need a physical store or POS hardware to get started in retail. You can accept payments with just a smartphone with Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android.
Check out more retail improvements…

@chrstnerode @figma Can you go through the Edit menu > Select All With.. > Select All with the same text properties?
English

@figma just want to change all the Regular fonts to be Light and all the Bold to be Semibold, but alas this is a painstakingly manual job

@darianrosebrook @disco_lu @laurenloprete @ayyDhar Love this! Rooting for this conversation to happen.

I've never been more grateful to type these words: started a new role with @Shopify.
Can't thank y'all enough for all the support and love the past few months.
Joining such a legendary design team is a wild dream come true.

@round Fewer buttons, fewer manufacturing complexities, cheaper production costs, more profit. Enshitification of an entire industry, even at the expense of safety.

Officially moved to the Front End Platform team of @Shopify POS today 🔥! This is a massive career step for me and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to step up like this 🥲!
English

@laurenloprete My POV has been fairly fluid on this over the years. Currently, my thoughts are that code is the source of truth and trying to maintain truth in a design tool is a lackluster time investment for designers. Maintenance cost is just too high when one can open the app and see it.

@mostly_kcsports It’s on 38 the spot apparently. Only way to watch is over antenna?

@nicolasmm Mid field has been fun so far though. RB car just too good.

I have bad news:
1. My son just said he's a "Max Verstappen" fan.
2. Red Bulls are already making this F1 season extremely boring. 😴 #SaudiArabianGP #F1
English

@thehilker Yeah, need to evolve beyond the folder as a means of housing different types of contextually related content.
English

@megaroeny @figma One would think that would viable for me. Alas, I am toxic and would just end up with 15 pinned projects. 😅
English

@figma Any chance of getting grouped tabs a la Chrome on the desktop app? Love working in the app but frequently lose track of things due to the volume of projects I have open at a given time.
