🚀 Exciting news: I’ve joined the incredible team at @Owner as their Chief Design Officer! Over the past few months, I took time to pause and reflect – to think deeply about what I wanted from the next chapter of my career. I wasn’t in a rush. I had the privilege of connecting with so many brilliant people and teams. But my first conversations with @adamguild and others at Owner stood out immediately. Their passion for the mission – and the caliber of the team they’ve built to pursue it – was impossible to ignore. I spent nearly a decade leading design at @Shopify, where we built products that empowered the everyday heroes: entrepreneurs, small business owners, and the people who power our local economies. Finding another company so deeply committed to helping owners thrive in this new era felt like coming home, to continue the work on a mission I care so deeply about. The opportunity ahead is massive. Polaris is now stable with one unified toolkit for apps and extensions

For merchants selling in-store or on the go, we're adding some of your most requested features to @Shopify POS. ​ Customer segments now include distance-based filters so you can drive customers to local stores and events. ​ Customer metafields are now on Shopify POS so you can capture and leverage customer data at retail. Save details like shoe size and let staff know when to offer a birthday discount. Metafields sync instantly across POS and online sales channels, giving you more insight into a customer’s preferences. ​ Offline payments are easy. Now, if you lose your internet connection, you can still accept payments with a Shopify card reader. No more lost sales. ​ Unverified returns are now possible, so when a customer doesn’t have a receipt or order number, you can refund to a gift card. This will be especially convenient for holiday gift returns. ​ The barrier to entry for selling in person has never been lower. You don’t need a physical store or POS hardware to get started in retail. @figma just want to change all the Regular fonts to be Light and all the Bold to be Semibold, but alas this is a painstakingly manual job

@round Fewer buttons, fewer manufacturing complexities, cheaper production costs, more profit. Enshitification of an entire industry, even at the expense of safety.

Officially moved to the Front End Platform team of @Shopify POS today 🔥! This is a massive career step for me and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to step up like this 🥲!

@laurenloprete My POV has been fairly fluid on this over the years. Currently, my thoughts are that code is the source of truth and trying to maintain truth in a design tool is a lackluster time investment for designers. Maintenance cost is just too high when one can open the app and see it.

Is centralizing a source of truth for current screens in your product a fruitless effort? How do you maintain it?

@thehilker Yeah, need to evolve beyond the folder as a means of housing different types of contextually related content.

@pbanta Still constrained by historical function. Miro’s a good start, but too far the other direction for what I have in mind.

I'd love to see some sort of integration of Google's productivity tools in the same document. Use the tab functionality from Sheets but the workspaces are whatever you want them to be.

@megaroeny @figma One would think that would viable for me. Alas, I am toxic and would just end up with 15 pinned projects. 😅

@pbanta @figma You can at least pin tabs for now, maybe will help prioritize some for you?

@figma Any chance of getting grouped tabs a la Chrome on the desktop app? Love working in the app but frequently lose track of things due to the volume of projects I have open at a given time.
