@kenfoxe Weather warnings serve a useful purpose but sometimes media go way OTT in reporting, giving the impression some sort of weather apocalypse is nigh. When the weather merely turns out to be a bit grim, public confidence in the whole warning system is undermined

I don't think I will ever get my head around people whinging about Met Éireann weather warnings. If you're not interested, then ignore them. If you are, they're useful guidance. And if your livelihood heavily depends on weather - transport, agriculture - they're vital.
