I remember in 2015, just three years into my marriage. I was working in Ajah as a Project Engineer at Lekki Gardens, while we were living in Ogun State around Ojodu Berger.
I used to wake up by 4 a.m. and leave the house no later than 5 a.m. to beat the heavy traffic on Third Mainland Bridge. Some days, I wouldn’t get back home until after 10 p.m., sometimes as late as 11 p.m.
By the time I got home, all I wanted was to rest so I could wake up early again. But at the same time, my wife wanted my full attention.
There were nights I even fell asleep while eating.
I provided and still providing till date, everything she needed and needs, and she looked good and healthy.
One particular night, she confronted me, saying I didn’t have time for her and that all I cared about was work.
The argument escalated so much that I almost lost my temper, but I chose to leave the room and sleep in the sitting room.
The next day, I went to work and discussed the situation with my Project Manager. After explaining everything, I wrote a resignation letter, which he acknowledged. We both planned it.
Then I returned home around 11 a.m that day.
My wife was shocked and asked what had happened. I told her I had resigned because of what she said the previous night, that I was now ready to spend more time with her.
She burst into tears, begging me not to resign, asking what we would eat and how we would pay the bills.
I told her God would make a way, that we would pray and fast and everything would be fine.
To cut a long story short, she called my Project Manager herself, pleading with him to reinstate me.
She promised me never to disturb me about work again, and since then, she has kept that promise.
Ever since that day, things changed. Whenever I get home, food is ready, water is prepared for my bath, and when I lie down, she gently massages my back. She was even the one who suggested that I rent a place in Ajah so I could stay there during the week and come home on weekends.

I went to this hospital at Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja Lagos
I wanted to see the gynecologist.
I paid for registration, 23,766
Paid for consultation, 119,000
Paid for tests close to 350k (it was about three hundred and forty something)
Minus my T.fare o
Now after close to a month, my results are ready. Oya o, tell me what the tests says. NO, I HAVE TO PAY 64,000 FIRST before the gynecologist can interpret what my tests says.
I almost lost it with them! They said it's the policy.
And frankly i don't have 64k to pay for tests interpretation. I told them to send the results to my mail.
I'm so heartbroken and disappointed.

Ibironke, I have once tweeted this. It is true and many are just on their last cannister of oxygen and waiting for ILR to breathe normally again. It is crazy the stories I hear everyday. The 9ja type of marriages survive on ego massage and respect for leadership. It now appears there is a contest for leadership and the sudden changes to the fortunes of most wives has changed their mentality about the whole arrangement. It is more pronounced in situations where the husbands are the dependants. Lives have even been ruined where the men could no longer cope with the suppression they weren't used to. A friend has been sent packing and even sent back home to 9ja just few months to ILR as a punishment for not being obedient. The frustration is bottled up by many having learnt from the few who have been punished.

I have a strong feeling once this Japa generation gets ILR, More marriages will struggle in this UK. The kind of conversation are getting scary, Let me tell you straight from the heart, I do not glorify divorce, it's hard and will test you to your limits. Work on your marriages if there's still hope , Let's work on reconciliation, there will always be room for forgiveness unless in extreme circumstances It's easier to grow, build, thrive abroad when 2 partners work well together than a single person Yes single people do survive and thrive, I Did, but given the choice I will rather have 2 parents household than one. The sacrifices on your health, career, finance and ongoing relationships even your new one is huge Blended family has it's own challenges, trust me on this, so if your marriage can still be salvaged, let's work on that Love can regrow, boundaries can be learnt, rules can be established, respect can be communicated and implemented both ways Please let's give peace, forgiveness love, family value/honour a chance My heart bleeds when people say I am only waiting for ILR, it shouldn't be like this I beg I am not justifying abuse of any kind, will never do after all I left too sometimes ago BUT I am saying not every rift need to end in separation/abuse/divorce
