@alexbdebrie @astuyve @JackEllis When I've needed to hit sub 100ms, I've used bare metal or fargate as an auth/throttling fleet and primed the connections before putting the host behind ALB. There isn't anything lightweight enough yet to hit 100ms cold when querying redis from lambda. Rust maybe.

Serverless folks using Redis, show me your benchmark of a cold connection to Redis.

@DavidWells The way it's implemented with a different console subdomain per account/role makes it significantly easier to manage cookies and do correctly tho.

@tpschmidt_ @sandro_vol Yeah, it won't be a lift and shift. You can't use libraries, you don't have network and it is a limited subset of JavaScript. @rooToTheZ @sandro_vol @AWSSupport That's a pretty good hint. Already tried to move our viewer request Lambda@Edge to CloudFront functions, but couldn't make it work due to errors. Didn't have the time to investigate, but are there common JS things that are not supported in cloudfront-js-2.0? 🙇

Hey @AWSSupport This is urgent 🔥 Microsoft is currently in the process of shutting down our platform's CDN (Edgio) with a very short prior notice that came right before Christmas. Therefore, we're migrating to CloudFront now as Azure Frontdoor doesn't have the features for URL conditions & rewrites that we need. It already works like a charm, except for the fact that our new AWS accounts have a Lambda concurrency limit of 10 which results in throttles all the way due to the Lambda@Edge functions. ⚡️ Could you speed up the approval process so we don't run into a lot of troubles on production? 🙇

@theburningmonk @dreamorosi I don't think I ever got it working with fetch (just axios) but that was over a year ago and many things have changed. I'd start here and look at the details of the xray fetch package: github.com/aws/aws-xray-s…

@dreamorosi ps. using Axios and everything works expected, and X-Ray traces the request through the HTTP call here you can see both functions accounted for, and the first function has a HTTP segment too

Does X-Ray no longer trace through HTTP requests? Here, I have Lambda -> API Gateway -> Lambda With x-ray active tracing enabled on both functions and API Gateway. Both functions initialised Lambda Powertools' tracer. But the trace doesn't span across to the 2nd function anymore. Is this a bug? Has anyone experienced this? Left is node 18 using CJS. Right is node 20 with ESM. I don't imagine that'd be the problem though.

@nathangloverAUS The taxi is a fixed rate from $21-$29: taxi.nv.gov/uploadedImages… and the CX bus will take you to/from the strip for $6 if you're looking for a few other options. A rail would be nice though!

The most frustrating part about going to re:invent is taking that nice train between the Vegas airport terminals then having to spend +$80 USD to get an Uber a couple miles

This was easily one of the trickiest things I've ever coded. Too many processes running? That's ok! You've now got scrolling tabs. Resize your terminal? That's ok! It'll reflow just fine. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 This was the last bit of polish. Shipping tomorrow!

@astuyve Fair, but I'd call it a year not years. The last features are from reinvent 2023. Still seems low risk to me, you can get the lower price today and fall back to fargate/ALB if they sunset.

I'm mostly very pleased with AWS Fargate, but one thing I'd love is for them to either build their own (cheaper) load balancer or even offer a free version which is a supremely simple, DNS-based round robin solution Save me the $15/mo on ALB if I'm only trying to move a small service out of Lambda!

@Eidivandi Yep! Even with integration tests, my hunch is there's probably a few seconds before the first invocation. Lambda team would have the data on time to first invoke, I'm just dreaming out loud here 😜.

Lambda should just do a proactive initialization after deployment. Seems like a simple way of getting rid of 1 coldstart, I always invoke soon after I deploy.

Also wondering if everyone goes into sport mode whether loading goes faster 😅.

TIL airplane headrests have a sport mode. Is this on all planes? I've never tried folding in the sides before.
