Hasan Piker's father, Mehmet Behçet Piker, spent 24 years working at Sabancı Holding, rising to the board of directors and position of vice president. Sabancı Holding is one of Turkey’s largest business conglomerates, with a net asset value of $10.5 billion in 2024. Piker’s father was also a founding member of the Future Party in Turkey, formed in 2019.
Piker disputes the notion that he grew up wealthy and privileged; in November 2025, Piker claimed that his father “went broke by the time I got to college, and I was broke for the first decade after college.” Apparently it was the kind of “broke” that could afford a Equinox gym membership in 2013, which cost $133 to $142 a month with a separate $175 initiation fee; Piker likely means “broke” as a synonym for “not earning as much money as I would like.”

@JonahDispatch Howard living with his mom was way more about his emotional immaturity than a financial decison. After his mom passed the house was clearly a good investment decision for their young family.

I thought it was very weird. Also weird: the idea that a top flight engineer who made all sorts of important stuff for NASA lived with his mom and thought he was too poor to have a kid, even though his wife was a high ranking pharmaceutical executive. Also, Leonard’s marriage to Penny made no sense. He totally should have hooked up with Alex or the hot comic book artist.

@darrenrovell I didn’t stop watching because they weren’t giving air time to some stupid tik-tok influencer. It became less important to me when it began imitating all the shouting pane shows that followed it instead of sharing highlights of all the game I couldn’t watch.

According to the Seattle Seahawks’ director of equipment, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was wearing the wrong size cleats at Ohio State. He was reportedly wearing a size 12 at OSU and had hamstring issues. With the Seahawks, he’s been wearing a size 10.5 and it virtually solved the problem. The Seahawks customize gear for each player and realized he needed to change sizes. (H/T @CHawk_Talk)

Others are full pro-Trump and insist that he can never be criticized and anyone who questions him or expresses any skepticism about anything he does is a traitor to the cause. Fewer and fewer prominent figures on the right are staking out the only actual sane position, which is that Trump is a politician who sometimes we will agree with and sometimes we will not agree with, and our right and responsibility as Americans is to be honest in either case.
