SI Update 26.3 ... Actually I had already made a decision to do a final update - WC update was planned for that - and then stop further development. I don't expect much more updates after this, as I think SI will turn to FM27 after that. The update as of today, came out 1/3

Why are taxpayers subsidising an event featuring billionaire owned football clubs? Tottenham and Auckland FC aren’t charities. They’re backed by owners worth billions. Good luck to them, but they don’t need help from Kiwi taxpayers. This funding is coming from the Government’s $70 million Major Events and Tourism Package. In practice it’s just a slush fund, politicians picking winners and spraying public money around in the hope of a headline. And it raises an obvious question. When Wellington Phoenix hosted teams like Wrexham, West Ham, Boca Juniors, or LA Galaxy, they didn’t need a government hand out to get those matches off the ground. So why do two clubs owned by billionaires suddenly need taxpayer support now? At a time when households are making sacrifices in their own budgets, Wellington should do the same. This is about priorities. ACT’s position is straightforward, government shouldn’t be in the business of subsidising private entertainment for commercial gain. If an event stacks up, it should stand on its own two feet.
