@anon_opin They tick over are about as loudly as a fridge. Honestly, you can't really hear them outside. Weighed against a boiler though, you'll breathe the effluent from gas combustion, and that is certainly more damaging.

Heat pumps should be installed right next to the property. Not down the end of the garden where the noise inconveniences your neighbours. If your neighbours are with 5 metres, forget heat pumps.

Along with 1,000 musicians, today we're releasing an (almost) silent album protesting the UK government's plan to upend copyright law to benefit AI companies. It's an album of recordings of empty studios & performance spaces, representing the effect the govt's plans would have on musicians' livelihoods. It's called 'Is This What We Want?', and the track list spells out a simple message: "The British Government Must Not Legalise Music Theft To Benefit AI Companies". This is serious. Think of all the benefits you've had in your workplace. Basic rights not to be sacked on the whim of an owner or boss. Rights to claim for bullying or worse. All of this because of others who fought for them. Now the govt is planning to strip many rights away 😡 There is nothing they won't do to destroy what's good in this country. @PeterStefanovi2

Had the absolute honor to orchestrate this fabulous mashup arranged by @tom_player performed by the one and only @annalapwood at @RoyalAlbertHall yesterday night.

@alexpfeffer Yeah, the scaling question is a fascinating one - would be interested to hear your thoughts on who has done this successfully? Management is sometimes just as time consuming as composing!

@tom_player However, at some point you want to scale your business, having a family and passion alone doesn't pay things. Still too many composers including me have or had problems thinking, talking and planning with money.

Do you want to be financially successful in your career but ever caught yourself saying stuff like: money is the root of all evil, I don't need lots of it, it turns people into greedy being, etc? Here are a few things you should consider.

Thrilled to share that after detailed renovation, my Victorian house has been eco-retrofitted with a heat pump, solar panels and insulation and is now achieving an A-rated EPC of 93. Not only is it comfortable, but it generates an income in summer.
