@WildCounsel @KamehamehaKush @NHLRumourReport Likely just posturing, especially ater it was known Kaprizov declined that first offer (was it $16M per?) I would imagine most teams at the top of the standings, especially those ridiculous amounts of cap space, gave Bill a call and at least asked.

@KamehamehaKush @NHLRumourReport That’s why I asked how they inquired… as at the time of the contract negotiations there were “feelings” that Kaprizov’s camp “knew” something else was out there.

Pierre LeBrun: Big-game hunting is a year-round sport for the Canes. Per league sources, they inquired about Kaprizov; They tried on Panarin; There was some level of interest in Trocheck; If there’s a big name...chances are Carolina will look into it - The Athletic (3/20)

Update: Yesterday, we filed a lawsuit to block the biggest TV merger in history (Nexstar + Tegna). That sparked a sprint by Nexstar to try to close the deal before a court could stop them. Less than 24 hours after we filed, USDOJ reportedly dropped its investigation, the FCC waived the rules that would normally block a merger this big, and Nexstar announced the deal was closed. Their CEO thanked the FCC chairman by name. Not so fast. This morning, I joined a group of AGs and filed an emergency motion asking the court to freeze this merger to give it time to hear our case. This merger deserves a full hearing before Nexstar starts raising TV prices on almost half the families in North Carolina and laying off reporters at local news stations across the state. This isn't speculation. Nexstar told its investors it expects to make roughly $135 million a year from charging higher fees to your cable and satellite provider, and another $165 million from "synergies" - their word for laying people off. And the law is on our side. When a merger gives one company this much control over a market, federal antitrust law presumes it's illegal. In every single NC market affected by this deal, the concentration blows past the legal threshold. It's not a close call, and that's probably why they tried to skip the part where a judge weighs in. Our emergency motion was just filed. I'll keep you posted.

Maybe don't punch a guy in the face? Sid was straight laughing about drawing a 2nd penalty in the box, which fair on that. Svech has to be more disciplined there. Instead of 4v4 it gave Pitt a power play that lead to a tying goal.
DK Pittsburgh Sports@DKPghSports

Tell you what: A player takes a whack at Sidney Crosby's knee right after Sid returns from that same knee being hurt ... that's gonna get answered by Andrei Svechnikov. Not at the cost of the outcome, of course. The Penguins won't forget. - From Dejan Kovacevic in Raleigh, N.C.

30 teams now. 15/15. Add Seattle and Vegas to the West. 17/15. Shift one team over to the East for balance. 16/16. Division realignment is all that would need to be done after that.
@jojustopher

@HatClub Wouldn’t both need to move if LV & SEA expanded?

@danishacarterr @TooSixGree17398 This is about as textbook an example of ensuring you're both "equally yoked" as it gets, but that doesn't seem to register for a lot of these dudes. Instead they get angry about it and make it everyone else's problem.

too many of you are weird and think “tolerating” conflict and opposing fundamentals is normal and sustainable long term in friendships and relationships, when it isn’t. people who are alike align. people who are not, fracture. your politics impact how you navigate life, raise your kids, where you live, the choices you make with your body etc. it’s normal and logical to want to date someone who politically aligns with you. cope and seethe.

@RustyCohle11 @AdamSpencer4 Yeah the guy with a history of shitting on the floor, not cleaning it up, then running away, getting another chance to not shit on the floor would try hard to make a good impression with the new place before doing it again. Bruce Pearl’s heel turn has been incredible. Literally took Auburn to the Final Four last year. Best coach in school history. “Retires” to give his son an undeserved opportunity. Doesn’t even end up running for senate. Says multiple idiotic things on TV. Brutal.

That's not meant as a slight on Morrow. I'm still rooting for the guy. I hope he puts it all together sooner than later. There's also a reason Carolina was comfortable moving him. If he reaches his potential, it wouldn't happen as a bad system fit and within Carolina's timeline.

The trade was actually a 1st, and a 2nd, and a prospect that had fallen out of favor with the staff for his own majors flaws, for a young top 4 Dman whose skill set fit Carolina's system better, could contribute immediately, & for a long time. That's easily a price worth paying.

I think the media has the wrong context of this trade. They viewed the acquisition price as one for an all star type guy (a 1st, a 2nd, and a top prospect,) which Miller isn't yet. Miller was a good, young RFA already playing solid 21+ minutes/game, with some flaws to improve.

@mushroomzulu01 @aschnitt53 I typically like Sean but yeah he's off base here. No one (realistic) was expecting a Norris contender. People were shocked by the on paper trade assets. The Skjei comp is quite apt. Brady also kept getting better the longer he was in the system. I imagine Key will do the same.

@FoolishBB If Italy wins at all I don't see how the US gets eliminated, Mexico would have a worse record right???? So why do people keep saying even if Italy wins 4-0 the US is still eliminated. What am I missing?????? How does a 2-2 team go in over a 3-1

@zhwright_ And the thing that's dumb on the Rangers' part is if you're gonna try and move him this summer now, teams are only going to be looking at taking on the rest of that contract, not at getting Trocheck for a 2026 playoff run

So here's the thing about this: that is absolutely too high for a 32-year-old Vincent Trocheck signed through 29. What the hell are some of y'all remembering about his time here? He was... a perfectly adequate 2C. Not less, but certainly not much more.
NHL Trade Alert@NHLTradeAlert

The Fan Hockey Show (Mar 9): Elliotte was told the Rangers ask on Trocheck was a 1st round pick, a roster player and a legit prospect. Carolina thought the price was too high for them. Elliotte says this is stage 1 for what New York can do and they still have a lot of time to make moves. #NYR #NHL

@BornAgainTwat @NHLTradeAlert It's about perspective. It's fair to say the ask was reasonable, and it didn't make sense for Carolina to part with the assets to acquire him. They couldn't get over the hump with Tro the first time. It's reasonable for them to say he's not enough of an upgrade for that price.

@NHLTradeAlert That’s unreasonable considering the shit some guys at this deadline fetched This is a center with term on a good value contract that can put up points and especially with good line mates Depending on the roster player CAR was stupid for balking considering where they’re at
