If you don’t know any conservatives you might think this is a figure of speech But no, my grandparents actually do think that every major city in the US burned to the ground and had vast swaths of no-go zones

@idobadtakes I argued with one of those people for days a couple years ago and the one thing I have learned is that when they say "burned to the ground" they either mean it literally or not literally depending on what they think favors them

@King_Crackers @idobadtakes What I've learned is that words are just tools to them, and, like a hammer, hold no intrinsic meaning. I've had people tell me both that they're "obviously" just exaggerating, AND that I must not actually live in my city because a lot of it burned down and I should know that.
