My very innocent, uneducated grandma went from Massachusetts to Kentucky to help out my Mom with her newborn in 1955. She had never seen segregated water fountains before. She asked my mother if she had ever tried “that colored water”, as if it was something exotic that they had in the South.

@ExtinguishEvil @WayneRocks3 @TNOQuoProQuid It's a matter of scale and harm. Outdoor housecats kill about 4,000x as many birds as wind turbines annually. Cars and office buildings kill hundreds of millions. I think ~200,000 human-caused bird deaths are acceptable for huge amounts of renewable power.

@WayneRocks3 @TNOQuoProQuid See this is the problem with liberals. They only are against whatever their brainwashing tells them. It tells them oil is evil, but don’t even bat and eye when windmills cause harmful noise around sea creatures, fiberglass in the ocean, a destroyed sea line or if birds get killed

The Trump administration has scrapped all protections for a critically endangered whale species known as the Rice's whale, allowing oil and gas drilling in their natural habitat. The regulatory meeting dooming the 50 remaining Rice's whales lasted just 15 minutes.

@panonse @GenrlJackRipper @marlene4719 This is only one single method. There's molten salt, compressed air, flywheels, and just normal batteries. There are a bunch of ways to store solar power during production surplus and release it when the sun goes down.

@GenrlJackRipper @marlene4719 So you'll need dams big enough to power every city and many additional solar panels to power them? How much will that cost and how much land and water will it need? Water also tends to evaporate in hot climates so that will need to be factored in.

Proof positive that Trump’s ass kissers must always give the same absurd answers that imbecile Trump would give. Bergum: “When the sun goes down, solar panels produce zero electricity. The whole machine doesn’t work.” Rep Huffman: “I request to enter into the record this amazing new technology that apparently the secretary is not aware of. It’s a battery.

@Konverter22 @OrevaZSN Water vapor doesn't exit or enter the system. There's always a fixed amount on Earth. By digging up and burning previously sequestered hydrocarbons, we are adding carbon dioxide to the carbon cycle where it did not exist before. So it's a variable volume where water vapor is not.

we have been LIED to about this for decades - Milankovitch Cycles, weakened magnetosphere, Volcanoes and other tectonic plate movement, shifting magnetic north, solar maximums and minimums ALL have more influence on Earths climate than carbon dioxide or methane, both of which are TRACE gases in the grand scheme of Earth’s atmosphere. Our climate system is way more complex than the IPCC computer modelling, which is itself flawed. Carbon dioxide does not drive Earth’s climate. It may have an ‘effect’ as a ‘green house gas’ but it is NOT even as powerful a ‘greenhouse gas’ as WATER vapour. So how can carbon dioxide alone possibly be driving Earth’s climate? The short answer is that it can’t. There are MANY reasons for more extreme weather or unpredictable weather patterns. MANY. MANY. reasons, some I have listed above and some are entirely man made and even sit within military budget projects.

I don’t think people understand that global warming doesn’t mean “no cold weather ever.” It means a warming planet destabilizes weather patterns, causing more extreme weather. This has been explained for decades and people still don’t get it.

@EsqAndTwins @OrevaZSN Literally zero reputable scientists ever said "the world is ending" in a decade. There have been plenty of inaccurate projections, like some of Gore's ice cap and sea rise claims, but anthropogenic climate change is a scientific fact that is already leading to noticeable harm.

@BowHoangDa @AntonChigu80801 @idobadtakes Yes. No one is denying riots happened, as they very obviously did. We're talking about how obnoxious it is that huge numbers of right-wingers pretend massive portions of American cities (read: "half the country") were burned down, which is a ridiculous lie.

@King_Crackers @idobadtakes What I've learned is that words are just tools to them, and, like a hammer, hold no intrinsic meaning. I've had people tell me both that they're "obviously" just exaggerating, AND that I must not actually live in my city because a lot of it burned down and I should know that.

@Globalcitizn1 @hearinladotcom No, it should come directly out of cops' pension funds. They, as individuals and agencies answer to practically no one in cases like these. Qualified immunity and victim compensation coming from taxpayer funds means they have no incentive to do their jobs correctly.

If you remember: the cops went upstairs and shot into a crowded store. One of the bullets struck and killed an innocent 14 year old who was hiding from the mayhem in a dressing room. The jury probably concluded that bc the cop couldn’t see her, her death was an accident. But others have argued it was reckless to go guns blazing into a store. When cops shot into the crowded Trader Joe’s in Silver Lake killing its manger Mely (hearinla.substack.com/p/trader-joes-…) in a similarly reckless way, her family was awarded millions. Would be interesting to see why these two had such different outcomes.

#BREAKINGNEWS: A jury in a civil trial found that the Los Angeles Police Department was not liable in connection with an officer's fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl in a Burlington store in North Hollywood. Valentina Orellana-Peralta was shopping for Christmas clothes with her mother at a Burlington store in North Hollywood on Dec. 23, 2021, when she was struck by a bullet that had gone through the dressing room wall. abc7.la/sbJpQ1

@Mug_of_Glop @snmrrw It's so clear how what actually matters to him is that it's the "only one in the world." It literally looks like a Happy Meal toy but the pure exclusivity is making him weep. Fucking pathetic. The first Traska I ever bought with my own hard-earned money has more intrinsic value.
