Why, when the train passes literally through the airport's landing lights, did they not build a train station at the airport instead of spending hundreds of millions extending the tram out there?

@CraigMurrayOrg Because they moved the terminal. The UK also does not do joined up thinking. Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are all next to a railway. None has a station.

@CraigMurrayOrg The revolving door corruption ensured that those who would later benefit from a business model that makes airports overpriced car parks with planes, ensured that rail transport was removed from the plan. They were rewarded with lucrative sinecures.

@CraigMurrayOrg Unfortunately, under capitalism, efficiency and value for money are not priorities, the transfer of public funds into private hands is all they care about. Poor or failng projects simply allow even more public funds to change hands at a later date.

@CraigMurrayOrg Re the rugby stadium it’s 2 mins by tram from Haymarket. And far more efficient than having trains stop every 2 mins.

@CraigMurrayOrg Because Craig it was about power - Edinburgh City Council wanted to be in control, it doesn’t have the legal power over the train network, can’t own stations or track so it built its own system at vast cost
