Intense debate continues online about the Fox News dashcam footage from an August 18, 2025 incident near Houston involving a mom with her infant in a $TSLA Cybertruck. The video shows the truck allegedly in Full Self-Driving (FSD) mode failing to follow a right-hand curve on the overpass, barreling straight ahead through traffic cones, and slamming into a concrete barrier instead of curving safely. Tesla has stated via Elon Musk that autopilot (or FSD?) was disengaged four seconds before impact. The victim is suing TSLA for $1 million.
While we believe video logs will show that FSD (or autopilot) was in fact disengaged prior to the accident, the absence of an effective PR team at TSLA to put to rest media misstatements (here Fox News) is again hurting the company’s brand and reputation for safety, which will be critical as it tries to secure regulatory approvals to launch fully autonomous Cybercabs with no steering wheel or pedals nationally later this year.

The media is running a story today about how a Cybertruck “allegedly” crashed on a Texas highway. Spoiler alert, the crash happened while the human driver was in control.
The law firm, which is seeking $1 million, says that last summer Justine Saint Amour was driving her Cybertruck with Autopilot engaged. There’s just one problem — Autopilot is a legacy lane keeping system that never shipped on Cybertruck.
The driver then admits that before the crash they disengaged the system and started driving manually. Indeed, the video shows the truck starting to turn before the driver disengaged and drove into the wall.
Tesla hasn’t officially responded to the lawsuit yet, but available telemetry indicates the driver probably wasn’t paying attention, got startled, and crashed. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to steer back towards the on-ramp in the video, rather you see the trajectory change from turning with the ramp to driving straight into it.
When you crash your car, people tend to put blame on anyone but themselves. A high profile company like Tesla, with a CEO who is the wealthiest man on Earth? Yeah, they kinds of BS lawsuits happen often.
Let’s wait for more data and discovery to take place, but based on the evidence i’m seeing so far that doesn’t look like something FSD — even an older V13 — would do.

BREAKING🚨: A massive meteor fragment discovered in northern Ohio could be the largest ever found in the state’s history, measuring a staggering 9 inches wide. The measurement remains unofficial and has not yet been confirmed.
The rock was reportedly found near Cuyahoga County after a bright fireball streaked across the sky, triggering a powerful boom heard across multiple states.
Officials say the space rock was originally about 6 feet wide and nearly 7 tons, with most of it burning up in the atmosphere as it broke apart. Only fragments are believed to have reached the ground.

Red steering wheel incident.
This is by far the worst thing I have had occur on FSD 14.2.2.4. I tried it three times and every time it failed.
It was supposed to take a left and the left blinker was on, but it looks like it started to take a right and then it stopped, displayed the red starting wheel and told me to take over while I was pulled out into the lane.

That's a great idea Keagan. Actually the best way to test is do this:
1. Go to the Tidwell park and ride on 59 Eastex Freeway. This is south of the Eastex Park and Ride by about 5 miles. You need to go south since the accident happened going northbound.
2. Set your destination for the Eastex park and ride, and make sure your navigation is set to go into the HOV. Or just make sure you get into the HOV lane once you start out. The HOV lane starts right at the Tidwell park and ride

I went to the exact same location of the Cybertruck accident shown in the Fox News video. This is the US-69/59 Eastex Freeway northbound HOV lane at the Y-split near the Eastex Park & Ride exit (approaching from downtown Houston toward Humble). In the Fox News video, the vehicle failed to follow the right curve, going straight into the barrier. Well, I tested it twice today with Tesla FSD engaged the entire time with zero human intervention. And unless you think I am a hologram speaking to you from another dimension now, it worked out really well. Here is the video of me taking the exact same curve twice, with Tesla FSD v14.2.2.5.

The 4 seconds is being used as a gotcha.
It's actually the opposite.
She disengaged because FSD was already failing.
The video shows the Cybertruck going straight at highway speed toward a concrete barrier at a Y-shaped overpass.
She didn't cause the failure.
She saw the failure happening and tried to correct it.
4 seconds at highway speed is not enough time to take control of a vehicle already committed to hitting a wall.
Tesla's own FSD documentation says the driver must be ready to take over immediately.
But human reaction time to unexpected system failure is 1.5 to 3 seconds just to process what's happening.
By the time she disengaged, the situation was already unrecoverable.
This is exactly what critics mean when they say Tesla's "driver was in control" defence is designed to shift liability regardless of what actually happened.
When FSD works, Tesla takes credit.
When it crashes, the driver gets blamed.
The 4 seconds doesn't clear Tesla.
It just proves she tried.

Elon Musk confirmed via Telemetry Data that the woman driving the Cybertruck in this video disengaged the system four seconds before the crash.
She was manually driving throughout this entire video. Don't believe everything you see/hear from Legacy Media about Tesla.

FSD 14.2.2.5 almost got me into a car accident. Can’t decide if it was the worst mistake it did or the greatest save. To be honest, even I didn’t noticed that car because it was blocked from the view by the other car that was turning right. Maybe it’s a good edge case scenario for @tesla_ai. If FSD is not 100% sure just wait a little bit more.
