With 8 days to the close of International Women’s Month, we are using this moment to celebrate progress and amplify the stories of African women who have shaped our continent and those continuing to lead its future. Through initiatives such as the African Union Gender Strategy (2018–2028), the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN), and the AU Campaign to End Child Marriage, alongside key instruments like the Maputo Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa and the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Girls, the AU continues to advance gender equality, protect rights, and expand opportunities for women and girls across the continent. Over the next 8 days, we will spotlight the stories, voices, and impact of African women across generations honouring their legacy and inspiring the future.
