A bit of historical background on the Chagos Islands Originally these were uninhabited with the Portuguese only stopping there in Tudor times to collect coconuts or other natural resources. It was the French that decided to claim & colonise them in the late 18th century 1790s

An APPEAL. Please please watch and share as widely as possible. This is a thoroughly worthwhile and deeply sad cause. A beautiful young lady called Candice needs to raise a chunk of money to fund potentially life saving cancer treatment in Germany. She has a young son who very sadly has already lost his father. I have almost 400k followers across all social media platforms. If even 35/40% of those donate just £1 Candice will reach her target. Please watch and share. Her go fund me page is here. gofundme.com/f/candice-to-g… @Cobratate @TateTheTalisman @elonmusk

There is a massive lie at the heart of the illegal immigration debate in the U.K. we are constantly told we cannot deport people or hold them offshore due to the ECHR and if we leave that problem will go away. That’s a lie. The EU have just voted in the European Parliament to pass MUCH tougher and faster deportation laws than we have here AND to be able to hold and process those migrants offshore. Yet every one of those countries are inside the EU, so how can they do it if we can’t? The truth is that is nothing to do with law and simply to do with will. Our governments, our home office, our civil service, our lawyers and particularly our judiciary do not WANT to resolve the situation. The Eu returned 20% of all illegal immigrants yet at that level said the system was broken & brought in tougher measures. In the U.K. we return an utterly pathetic 4%😳 and even then 71% of that 4% were Albanians. It’s a farce, it’s a joke and it’s nothing to do with the ECHR, it’s because our entire establishment are cowards and traitors. It can be changed overnight if we had somebody strong enough to do it.

Recently I've got so sick of being wolf-whistled by straight white men when I go jogging as a woman on Tuesdays, that I've almost stopped wearing tiny shorts and a tight crop top.

Is it really? You state welfare without separating out the elements. Many disabled people are being moved from legacy benefits to UC - they're not new claims. Of the new claims many are linked to the complete and utter lack of healthcare during lock downs and the backlogs in treating people with far more advanced problems who were ignored afterwards. We don't deserve to be held responsible for this. Many of us worked very hard for decades paying in and when we end up needing some help we're suddenly a burden and people are backing euthanasia. Honestly Eff off and I hope you experience disability so bad it renders it impossible to work too. You'll soon change your tune.

The surge in welfare spending in the UK in the last 3 years has been absolutely nuts. Just the nominal increase from 2022/2023 could cover all of its Britain's defence spending (and more)

Rent.controls don't work. Why we stopped investing in council housing I'll never understand and the affordable housing element in new builds hasn't really been done well. The current idea of punishing landlords with unrealistic policies isn't working either - they're selling up and leaving the market pushing rents even higher.

It is NOT ok to experiment on kids as young as 11 and make irreversible changes to their bodies. We must protect children from dangerous ideology. Conservatives will not just sit back and let this happen. I refuse to believe MPs, if given the chance, would let this continue. That is why we will force a vote, not just to pause this trial but to stop it completely.

I seem to remember rather a lot of shouting and moaning from Labour about the Tories replacing their leader and demanding a General Election! Saying it left the government with “No mandate” and the “public should have their say. Here’s a list of all those MPs now strangely silent as Labour attempts to get rid of their own PM. Er hello???? Cat got your tongues? Keir Starmer Angela Rayner Rachel Reeves David Lammy Wes Streeting Yvette Cooper Ed Miliband Pat McFadden John McDonnell Richard Burgon Ian Murray Mary Foy Catherine McKinnell Alex Davies-Jones Ruth Jones Catherine West Fleur Anderson Lisa Nandy Bridget Phillipson Jonathan Ashworth Nick Thomas-Symonds Lucy Powell Shabana Mahmood Peter Kyle Steve Reed Thangam Debbonaire Louise Haigh Preet Kaur Gill Tulip Siddiq Darren Jones Chris Bryant Chi Onwurah Clive Lewis Dawn Butler Bell Ribeiro-Addy Zarah Sultana Kim Johnson Mick Whitley Ian Byrne Rebecca Long-Bailey Rachael Maskell Nadia Whittome Rosena Allin-Khan Barry Gardiner Sarah Owen Paula Barker Kim Leadbeater Hmm …

Morning lovely people, I have to say, you've just got to love the ratio on the below tweet. I know this plan isn't official policy yet but I just can't see it working. All the things that seem to be being suggested so far as things that people could swap their benefits for should already be being provided. For example, job coaching is already a DWP provision, and therapy should be provided by the NHS. Also, if people need therapy, (for example) is likely to cost more than the amount they get in benefits (if private), so my other question would be, where would the rest of the money come from? It really looks like somebody's gone 'this is a great idea, people are gonna love these new support options' and not one single person who has looked at it has bothered to actually interrogate the actual implications. Until that is, this article came out, and real disabled people immediately let out a collective 'what the actual fuck is this?'
Chris Smyth@Smyth_Chris

People on sickness benefits would be able to swap cash payments for job coaching or mental health therapy, under plans being explored to get welfare reforms past Labour MPs Early stage, but first concrete proposals discussed since last year’s rebellion

I'm not listening to her. If Reform genuinely wanted support they'd realise negativity doesn't win longterm on a people who've had nothing but for years. We were there first (& are therefore bigger and more established) seems the whole basis of opposition to someone who clearly doesn't want to compromise on sorting the mess out. Because to me that's the main difference between them - what's possible easily and the sort of institutional nationwide revolution we need to fix us properly and get us growing into a great country again. Very silly strategy IMHO.

Of course not. He's going to hang on until almost the GE then handover to Burnham . Then they'll try to keep power with a different face but more or less same terrible country destroying policies . And they might just get it because too many people support them (especially indoctrinated by Fabianists' youth), the boundaries of constituencies fixed to favour them (with no objection from the other parties) and the new foray into tactical voting by the left Sometimes I predict a term early but I'm never wrong re the general direction of travel. We need non voters to be inspired to vote. I believe Restore is enough of a clean sheet to do it - my main objection to Reform is that they've imported lots of former politicians from other parties. Yes some experience is good but too much looks like same old same old. Restore is full of people who think the same and moved from Reform with the same thinking. I'm not going to waste time slagging off Reform endlessly though. They're my second place preference, third is Conservative. Need to see how support is in my area before I vote. Don't want to split the vote and end up with Labour.

Every doctor in Australia needs to read this thread. The Australian Govt is about to radically change Australian healthcare for the worse. It has decided that it can no longer afford what has historically been world-beating care. A cut-price model, imported from the UK, /
