@PastaModer Idk, there are cases where I could understand it. Like if I was 50 or something and completely masculinized and like bald or something, I might still want to take HRT for the mental effects, but to me there'd be no point to socially transitioning.

@AffableEffable my current insurance doesn’t cover ANYTHING trans healthcare. the place i’m moving to later this year, their state insurance (the one i will have to go on,) ALSO doesn’t cover ANYTHING trans healthcare. i know this shit better than the OP, considering she(?) was able to get ffs.

It does when you're trying to explain that it *needs* to be covered for trans people as a life saving surgery. I'm telling you in a *prescriptive* sense, not a descriptive sense, you SHOULD NOT USE "cosmetic" to describe surgeries like FFS.

@tortorororo @AlexKavana27574 @polypocketknife i also had a reconstructive surgery. it’s still cosmetic surgery. cosmetic doesn’t mean bad or anything. it just means it affects your appearance. ffs is a cosmetic surgery. a breast reduction is cosmetic surgery. top surgery is cosmetic surgery. a nose job that helps you breathe
