@vfiorese_ @StarryInternet @3GPPLive This is what happens when the industry claims 5G is the answer to life the universe and everything. Instead of 42, you get a brand that means nothing at all.

@AlexpHSL @WISPAnews If you still think TVWS is worth our time and money, Microsoft has a story to tell you. But fine revisionist history there Alex.

@WISPAnews @AmplexInternet And yet Radabaugh as WISPA's FCC committee chair urged the Board to stop supporting WISPAs efforts to support TVWS stating he was tired of wispa helping Steve Coran's clients. While he was focused on his company's fiber deployment.

@haroldfeld Yet the feds rarely support the local service providers that ARE delivering broadband. Disappointing.

Yes, muni broadband is so awful that states are actually rolling back the laws they passed to block them.

Rs keep talking about incenting carriers to extend their networks, which is the thing we’ve been doing and that hasn’t worked.

No amount of federal subsidies will change the fact that the big ISPs have no incentive to serve rural places. You need different business models. Municipal networks & co-ops have different incentives & that makes all the difference, writes @communitynets nonprofitquarterly.org/a-signal-failu…

@communitynets @stacyfmitchell There are many @WISPA members in rural areas providing our customers similar services and similar pricing to what is available in urban areas. That it's not sufficient to interest AT&T or other ex-monopolies isn't a bad thing. Creating new monopolies with government money is.

@AmplexInternet @stacyfmitchell There is no assumption that rural broadband is unprofitable. It is clear that the profit is insufficient for AT&T and other monopolies. For those of us that believe rural areas deserve similar service at similar prices to urban areas, the article shared above explains how.

Congress and the FCC want to spend Billions of dollars to raise the definition of broadband to 100/100 or even 1000/1000. The upload speed number ONLY exists to pick a specific technology - fiber. There is no actual current or even future demand for extremely high upload.

30 days of fixed wireless broadband usage. Our customers use a lot of data - One at 4.2Tb, Two over 3Tb, FortyFour over 2Tb, and 564 over a Tb. Average of 375Gb down, 26Gb upload. Total transfers? 6,486 Pb to customers, 0.227 Pb upload.

@MCalabreseNAF Given the success WISP's have made of the most 'shared' spectrum in the world - the unlicensed ISM bands, I absolutely agree with both of your statements!

Definitely my experience as well over 15 years. FCC is indeed, if anything, way too cautious on band sharing. But regardless, incumbents -even DOD- can’t just make up their own one-off interference threshold
(((haroldfeld)))@haroldfeld

@tzsawyer @MCalabreseNAF @MarcusSpecSoln @FCC @McDowellTweet @LigadoNetworks All spectrum fights take exactly the same pattern, with all incumbents always claiming that there will be interference and vital services will stop working etc. No matter what engineering evidence to the contrary, I have yet to see an incumbent change their mind.

Lot of discussion in DC circles about need for huge Federal investment to improve broadband availability. Congress will decide but I strongly contend that any effort must include a stringent prohibition on subsidized overbuilding. Those UNSERVED must be priority and focus!

@mikeddano @WISPAnews 16.2% overall, and 127% increase in fiber customer revenue. Most fiber growth is competitive wins from other providers. More to come next year!

According to @WISPAnews , WISPs have been organically growing at approximately a 15% clip annually. Today, they serve about 7 million subscribers in areas which legacy providers have chosen to neglect or avoid due to cost constraints. Wow.

@AjitPaiFCC @FCC Now that that’s settled, what shall we do about that BIAS acronym the FCC uses? Seems a bit biased.

Given the otherwise-solid victory, the @FCC will not seek en banc or Supreme Court review of footnote 1, eschewing our use of acronyms because "we prefer the use of the English language and deplore the practice of using acronyms unknown to the general public." #appellatetwitter

The moment America's been waiting for is here: the D.C. Circuit unanimously affirmed @FCC's decision to forbear from enforcing avoided-cost resale and unbundling rules. This will promote investments in next-generation networks that better serve consumers. cadc.uscourts.gov/internet/opini…
