@B19farmer @SawyerMerritt No worries! Generally, once final design is finished on a chip, it usually takes around 12-18 months for mass production to start. These timelines are being pushed back right now to around 18-22 months due to the current RAM shortage
English

NEWS: Elon says Tesla may be able to "tape out" its upcoming AI6 chip this December, which is a stage when a chip design is finalized.

Elon Musk@elonmusk
@teslaownersSV @pbeisel With some luck and acceleration using AI, we might be able to tape out AI6 in December
English

@Luvryyryy @SawyerMerritt Yeah I don’t understand chip fab at all haha. This news makes it seem to me like AI6 might be ready for production early next year
English

@B19farmer @SawyerMerritt Mass production of the AI5 chips is slated for around Q2 2027 with all initial chips being reserved for cybercab. Incorporation of AI5 into consumer vehicles won’t occur until Q3-Q4 of 2027

@Durango4571 @Teslarati People will often just sleep during road trips I imagine. My point is things will be very different than we can imagine and charging speeds won’t matter like ppl think they do now
English

@B19farmer @Teslarati Because on a road trip I want to unpack and repack my car N times on the way?
English

I didn’t think this would stimulate as much conversation as it did.
Most people are okay with waiting 10-15 minutes for 10-20% charge because it gives them a chance to grab food, use the bathroom, etc.
Does Supercharging need to be as fast as pumping gas?
TESLARATI@Teslarati
Do you think faster charging, at these types of rates, should be prioritized by Tesla?
English

@JoshWest247 @wholemars I imagine Neuralink will make this not such a problem. Then we can be as smart as the machines… with a machine but yeah
English

@wholemars What the underlying concern is that by reliance on machines, the growth of human intelligence subsides.
It’s like a muscle that does not get exercised.
Fundamentally the core fear with artificial intelligence is that the human mind overall, will atrophy.

@spotted_model Insane man. Just went back and read some of the comments ppl are crazy. Congrats on the banger though haha

I’m being real here for a minute. This is what I learned on X the last 24 hours after a post had over 6 million impressions:
Those who are following me (🙏) know most of my stuff is humor or sarcasm. Life is too short to take it too seriously. That comes across in what I post. I’m thankful my friends on here put up with me.
But on Friday, an account with over a million followers reposted me. And his followers were rabid. Angry. Aggressive. A day later, the attacks have been unreal. Over 10,000 pieces of hate. Bullying.
I thought most of America had moved on from wanting to burn Teslas. From wanting people who drive one to die in an accident. From wishing failure and misery just for driving a car.
I was naïve. I was wrong. There is a very real group - a massive amount of people who feel this way. Even muting the comments they manage to slip through. In fact, some of them will probably comment on this post.
I don’t mind. I have thick skin and a sense of humor, and on the bright side, my next next payday might be a little higher. But I’m just warning you, friends. Be vigilant out there. Watch your back. It might be boiling just under the surface, but the hate is real.

English

Don’t you think autonomous cars everywhere will make charging speeds basically irrelevant anyway?
Eventually people will get to a supercharger and just hop into a different car that just finished charging if they’re really in a hurry.
I’m so sick of ppl complaining about charging speeds. It’s totally fine the way it is
English

Fast charging is great, but the impact this has is vastly exaggerated.
First off, you need a megawatt charging station. Even in China, there aren’t many. In the US? You’re not going to have a megawatt charging station that often.
Supercharging stops are already often less than 15 mins. The problem for me is usually that they are too short and I have to hurry back, not that they are too long.
Finally, all of my charging is Level 2 charging at home. It doesn’t matter if my car can charge at 1 megawatt if i’m going to bed and charging at 11 kilowatts. Remains to be seen what the impact on battery longevity is too.
Megawatt charging is a great headline to convince gas car drivers to switch… but honestly I don’t know if I would upgrade my EV just for that. 500 kW on my Cybertruck is more than enough for me.
Craig Lawrence@clawrence
Lots of talk of new BYD EV charging specs. I can charge my Tesla Model 3 at a super charger from low to ‘how-much-I-need-to-get-home’ in the time it takes me to walk into Buc-ee’s, take a leak, get an iced tea, and walk back to my car.

@SkinnyTuna This post literally made me put my phone down and go work out for the past 30 minutes so you helped at least one person
thanks man 👊
English

@B19farmer @seti_park I had the same thought. Maybe they thought it would be too hard to keep the delicate systems from being damaged.
English

@B19farmer Have her call me if you need to.
English

@spotted_model Guess I have no other option 🤷♂️
I’ll let my wife know…
English

@B19farmer Hey, I found it on eBay. I just kept looking for like a month until I found one that was in really great condition. Prices vary by seller. And yes, you need to do this.
English

@B19farmer Decades ago it was clean enough to swim in, used to all the time. Now it’s a froggy swamp

And 90 minutes later, my interior project is done. It’s finally the color it should’ve been from the factory. I’ve got a how to video coming, but my advice is take your time looking, find seats in amazing condition, and you can change the color of your interior yourself. So good!
Btw the rear seat bench and all of the parts were $600 plus $300 to ship across the country. The front seats from @evoffer are about $1200 all in. I think I’ve got a promo code for them if you’re interested.

Saturday seat project update. Surgery in progress. 🙌
