Keeping property taxes low induces speculation and impoverishes the city. Allowing rentals in every neighbourhood is the best thing we could do for the long term health of our infrastructure and existing affordable housing.

Keeping our low density neighbourhoods as-is has an incredible cost. The public amenities, apartments, services we've sacrificed for the benefit of a few is wild.

Vancouver zoning and tax math: Add up the forgone taxes from 50 years of exclusionary zoning (that prohibited apartment buildings in most of the city). My rough figure is about $4b in lost tax revenue following downzoning by TEAM (1.0) - and maintained by successive city govs.

Accounts like this that make money selling themselves as experts on Canadianness have a duty to inform people that we do in fact vote for members of parliament, and parties have always been mercurial.

Liberal gaslighting about Canadian politics gets pretty exhausting. Like, the parliamentary system literally couldn’t function if we “voted for the person not the party,” but now they’re acting like that’s somehow always been understood as the objectively “correct” way to vote.

And I generally agree with his big tent approach & his perspective on quite a bit. Lots of public policy proceeds without data, but you already know that. Why not be constructive?

The BC NDP promised to end the pet ban years ago and hasn't acted on it. It's way past time to make good on this promise.

Pet bans in rentals aren’t neutral. They disproportionately impact low-income renters and is an equity issue that can lead to homelessness (for people and pets). Proud of this collaboration from our org and SPCA. Lift the ban! @FirstUnitedDTES @BC_SPCA

Perfect centrist take that will attract Vancouverites who like the VPD. Great “big tent” position.
