@cutlerstom @CDFarming @RichMadd86 The harrows will work. I've only use a straw rake once so my knowledge of those is limited. Our 6m guttler might work if wheels are wound right down so the tips of the tines are just braking the surface while doing little damage to the plants. I'm sure @hanslope may have ideas💡

@RichMadd86 We've got the same problem up here. I know that my grandfather and father would have got a set of old zigzag harrows turned them upside and scarified capped land. I guess the modern way would be a straw rake ??

Just sold another couple of loads of wheat and barley. Wheat £184 December, Barley £170 Feb. Decent cover at a profitable price, and it leaves me scope to sell a bit more if we see further upside.

@HealthRanger Mate, you’re talking bollocks, weeds run amok in a healthy soil, they’re just the plants we don’t need after all! Binary choice: Glyphosate or more soil movement to control weeds, means it’s basically use agchem or release more carbon. It could be said that it has to be both.

It's a myth that glyphosate is necessary for food production. Food can be grown very effectively and efficiently using regenerative agriculture, no-till soil preservation techniques and feeding microbes into the soils that allow diverse life to flourish. Glyphosate only seems beneficial in the short term because modern agriculture has produced DEAD SOILS that have been killed with chemicals and "mined" of natural minerals. It takes care and effort to keep soils healthy, which naturally reduces weeds and helps intended crops out-compete other plants. But our entire agricultural system, just like our medical system, is rooted in the idea of a "chemical assault" on everything. Widespread use of glyphosate is indicative of failed agricultural practices that are not sustainable in the long run.

The fact that the Councillor is criticising the fact that there are no ducks around, and not the £7k sign is the reason councils have no money to spend on the things that matter! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@TWBFarms @woodboroughpark What about Fixing a puncture, unblocking a culvert, shovelling grain, welding a sprayer boom? No, that's the reason there's little interest.

Only 30 places out of 80 taken on this free event so far Interesting to see how uninterested in using Ai in their business farmers clearly are, I can't help but think this will inevitability result in our industry getting left even further behind ☹️ Without doubts its already become the most powerful tool in my farm tool box eventbrite.co.uk/e/unlocking-ai…

@theladyfarmer @AgreenaApp No one ‘owes monies’ for 23 and 24, they are supposed to be selling them on our behalf (which doesn’t seem to be happening). This is the reality of the carbon market after the first couple of years when agreena themselves bought the credits. Find a buyer and stop whinging.

Has anyone had any money from @AgreenaApp lately, we’re still owed 2023 & 2024 monies plus the retained credits and now they’ve the cheek to ask for more data - they owe us about £50k! Looking at their accounts things don’t look pretty

@Jes_Squirrell @TWBFarms The only way to flush out if there is actually any premium value in the marketplace is by allowing multiple schemes. If too onerous and not enough reward no one will sign up so nothing to buy. If no value offered then proof we just need most basic standard possible by law.

@TWBFarms But at the moment RT have that luxury, as well as UK farmers not having a subsidy that helps recompense those standards. To have both issues is the double whammy that we can’t afford to have!

British farming is still in a critical state IHT changes have already removed any incentive to invest. Machinery dealers, input suppliers & manufacturers are already going under. Add to that: • lowest commodity prices in decades • extreme weather → poor yields • BPS scrapped • SFI cancelled without notice The damage is real. The pressure is now This industry (and our future food security) is hanging on by a thread ☹️ @agricontract @loosecollie @wheat_daddy @TheFarmingForum
Victoria Atkins@VictoriaAtkins

After 14 months of pain faced by farmers and family business owners, @Conservatives sought a simple apology from the Labour minister over their Family Farm Tax fiasco. Labour don’t have the grace to say sorry. And for many, the partial u-turn is too late with record farm closures and lives tragically lost.

This post beggars belief: “………. underlining the need to work more closely with the farming sector. Today I am launching a Farming and Food Partnership Board giving the sector a voice at the heart of government”. Why @EmmaforWycombe do you then not listen to us and as @amcarmichaelMP said, you carry on with your damaging policies?

@bleating_lamb I’ve had a £3/t claim for barley that is 0.01% over on nitrogen today. Seems disproportionate.
