Sick of waiting for ESPN to load on your phone? I made a site that shows live NBA games, boxscores and play-by-play in plain text and loads instantly. No frills, and no waiting, just plain text sports: plaintextsports.com

Sorry about the PTS outage today. I added a message at the top that will appear if a page hasn't been updated for 2+ hours. Hopefully Twitter works better, since my Rollbar free tier email notifications don't work properly.

Hm, this is still wrong. I thought the next tiebreak after "runs allowed/out in common games" was "runs allowed/out in all games", but it switches to "earned runs allowed/out in common games". I could lookup the number of earned runs, but that's annoying...

I thought I could get away with just counting innings played for the "runs allowed" tiebreaker in the World Baseball Classic, but I had to update it to actually calculate defensive outs recorded to correctly handle the three team tie in Pool C.

@usgraphics Faucets that only have a button to go into spray mode, rather than a switch to go back and forth, infuriate me. Don't make me turn off the faucet to go back and forth! Have these designers never washed dishes before? When rinsing, spray on concave surfaces, stream on convex.

Fail to understand the obsession with "satin" finish fittings in the house. This is one of those modern trends to go with white-stained oak, gray floors and B&W house exteriors. Faucets & fittings should be chrome or polished stainless steel so you can tell if it is clean.

@inpredict It'd be cool to see squash added (though no idea if good data is available). The chart I've always wanted is average rally length (in shots (or total hits) and/or by time) by sport/skill level/sex (and which serve for tennis)! Do you have the data available to make that?

How much does the tennis serve advantage swing to the other direction if you force them to serve "ping pong"-style, by requiring a bounce on your own side of the net on serve.
Mike Beuoy@inpredict

Saw Marty Supreme last weekend, and was inspired to do a comp of serving advantage across multiple sports. Tennis 🎾: it's an advantage to serve Volleyball 🏐: it's a disadvantage to serve Table Tennis 🏓: nearly 50/50, based on what limited data I was able to find

@paulbettner I love that game. Spent a lot of time trying to orient myself "the right way up". Until the zen moment when I realized there is no right way up.

Would anyone want one of these plaintextsports drawstrings bags? I might order some more and could send them to people at cost (~$25).
