Reading this, you might think it had been an unduly traumatic legal battle with her father. She'd actually been: -removed from her parents by the state, -placed into state care, -gang raped (reportedly by migrants imported by the state), -euthanised by the state I'd say the state had more to do with her death than a "long legal battle with father".

In 2009, Katie Piper went on a date with Daniel Lynch. Afterwards, Lynch became so jealous that he raped Katie and beat her. Not satisfied with that, he paid Stefan Sylvestre to throw sulphuric acid on her face. Katie has had 240 surgeries to repair the damage to her face and her eyesight. Lynch was given a minimum 16 year prison sentence. He has just had a parole hearing and his release was denied. Katie remains terrified that he will come after her again if he is released. The parole board has said that he will have another hearing in the future but that he still has “anger management issues”. Before he met Katie, Lynch did not have a clean record. He had thrown boiling water over someone. He should never get out of prison but he is highly likely to be released in the medium term. Side note: his co-conspirator, Stefan Sylvestre, was given a life sentence for throwing the acid at Katie. He was given parole after only 9 years in prison. He left the country, breaching his release conditions and is now back in prison. Horrendous that he was let out in the first place. Another two examples of a deeply flawed UK justice system.
